Virginia Presidential Paso Fino Horse Association's show year started out with a bang! With classes holding anywhere from 9 - 13 exhibitors, numerous vendors, multiple clinics and exhibits, this show was a huge success! The high quality of the horses shown was evident as you watched class after class. From morning until night, the busy and fun camaraderie was evident. There was an air of excitement the entire weekend as you could tell how excited everyone was to be back at the show grounds. Laughter and good nature were everywhere. Many new youth were entered into some of the classes as well, some having only ridden a Paso Fino a few times prior to the show! The fun classes Saturday evening brought upon many laughs.
A new fun challenge, the Family Feud Equitation Challenge (originally Trainer v. Offspring), was also very exciting. $240 was donated towards this class and was split between the winners. The exhibitors in this challenge were Luis and Monica Figueroa, Shaw and Abby Laney, Milda and Christina Minter Straus, and Rick and Jena Shaffer. Cindy Griffeth agreed to "judge" this challenge for us and it was very entertaining to watch! A video of the class can be seen here! This will be offered every other year.

Family Feud Equitation Challenge

A 50/50 drawing was held and an amazing $1,492 was raised! A very surprised and emotional Michele Klawitter took home $746 from this drawing! The remaining $746 is going to the VaPPFHA region.
Jonathan Shaw and Melinda Anderson put on some amazing exhibits for us, including soccer, falconry and freestyle! The Paso Bailadores Drill Team put on some amazing drills for us to watch in awe. Our Flag Ceremony was beautiful and emotional as Jonathan Shaw, along with Luis Figueroa, Melinda Anderson, Monica Figueroa, Kaycee Gracia and Savannah Williams carried some of our flags for us.
Sarah King and Debbie Wolkowicz provided clinics for the Team USA youth members that were at the show. All of the Team USA youth were very grateful for this. Go Team USA!
The numerous spectators seemed to really enjoy the show. The stands were filled!

2013-2014 VAPPFHA Awards Program
|
|
The VAPPFHA is sponsoring an exciting awards program for the 2013-2014 show year (beginning on September 1, 2013). CASH prizes will be awarded!
$100.00 for High Point Professional Rider, High Point Youth Rider and High Point Amateur/Owner Rider & Specialty Horse for each VAPPFHA Regional Show; and End of the Year Awards of $300.00 for each high category listed above.
Owner of competing horse must be a member of VAPPFHA to qualify for payout.

2013-2014 Virginia Bred Program
|
|
In each class, cash awards will be given to the top six horses that were foaled in Virginia! The VAPPFHA Virginia Bred Program is sponsored in part by a grant from the Virginia Horse Industry Board.
Bring your Virginia bred Paso Fino and compete for cash awards. The more Virginia bred horses that compete, the larger the purses! No additional entry form or fee is required. The horse's registration certificate must list Virginia as the state in which the foal was born.
