Angels Baseball: Spring Training Scouting Report

Silky's owner Dan Madden just returned from his annual scouting trip to the Angel's spring training camp in Arizona. Here are Dan's highlights on what to expect this season:

At the Bat and in the Field:

  - Pujols and Trout were ripping the cover off the ball.  Trout is swinging at more first pitches than last year, and Pujols appears to be in good shape and injury free (knock on wood).

  - New outfielder Matt Joyce (traded for Jepsen) is hitting well and his hamstring is healing

  - New infielder Johnny Giavotella is making a case to fill Kendrick's shoes at 2nd base.

On the Mound:

  - The Angels will open the season with a 4-man pitching rotation.

  - New prospects Heaney and Tropiano will most likely start the season in Triple A.

  - Drew Rucinski has made great strides since the Angels spotted him pitching in an independent league back in 2013.

As the 2015 season kicks off this month, head to Silky's for a beer and more scoop on the outlook for Angels Baseball!
