Leaders Convene on Regional Issues 
Lake County Leaders Round Tables Focus on Collaboration
Elected and appointed officials from across the county recently participated in four Leaders Regional Round Tables in each quadrant of the county. The purpose was to bring leaders from across the county together and identify opportunities to collaborate. Watch Video

 Health Department News
Lake County among Healthier Counties in Illinois
A public health report card that grades the health of America's counties has ranked Lake County thirteenth of the 102 Illinois counties, based on health outcomes measured by length of life and quality of life. Lake County was also rated seventh on health factors measured by health behaviors, clinical care, socio/economic factors and physical environment. Read Press Release

Next Low-Cost Pet Vaccinations
Low-Cost Pet Vaccination season is in full swing with upcoming opportunities on Saturday, April 26, in Vernon Hills and Saturday, May 3, in Lindenhurst. The Lake County Health Department's Animal Care and Control program offers clinics throughout the spring and summer to provide a convenient and affordable way for pet owners to keep their pets up to date on vaccinations. 

Healthy Lake County
Do you know how may drinks per day are considered too many for men and women? Since April is Alcohol Awareness month, this video features the Health Department's Addictions Treatment Program. Viewers will also learn about the next low-cost pet vaccination clinic and in what ways people can still enroll in health insurance through Enroll Lake County! It takes just a few minutes to watch.

Almond Marsh Heron Rookery Open Hours
Welcome herons and cormorants back to Lake County at Almond Marsh Forest Preserve in Grayslake. Almond Marsh is open Saturdays, April-June, 8 a.m. - noon (except Memorial Day weekend) for observation.
 
Voter News
Independent and New Political Party Candidates 
Courtesy petition packets for independent and new political party candidates seeking a county office in the November election will be available online at LakeCandidatePower.info under Petition Filing Information until June 23, the last day to circulate and file. Candidates may also obtain copies of the petition packets by visiting the County Clerk's office, 18 N. County Street, Waukegan during weekday hours of 8:30 am to 5 p.m.

Offices to be elected in the fall include County Clerk; Sheriff; Treasurer; Regional Superintendent of Schools; County Board Member Districts 3, 6, 8, 9, 10,17 and 19; and North Shore Sanitary Trustee Districts 3 and 5.

Lake County candidates file their petition packets at the Clerk's office from June 16 to 23, 2014. As always, it's recommended for candidates to seek competent legal counsel when completing petition packets.

Lottery to Determine Party Order on Ballot
A public lottery to determine the party order on November's ballots will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 1 in the lobby of the Lake County Courthouse and Administrative Complex, 18 N. County Street, Waukegan. Candidates like to be listed first on the ballot since there is statistical evidence that the first place position can yield a slight advantage.
