Serving Florida Faithfully

Catholic Volunteers in Florida (CVIF) is a hidden treasure for nonprofits interested in utilizing a responsible, educated, dedicated full-time volunteer within their organization.  To learn more about the organization and the services it offers, we reached out to Valarie Amica, Director of Programs & Service Sites at CVIF.

Briefly describe the program and purpose of Catholic Volunteers in Florida.

Catholic Volunteers in Florida is dedicated to providing people of all faiths the opportunity to volunteer for a year and live out their faith by serving the diverse needs of the people of Florida. Catholic Volunteers work towards justice and peace, transforming the community they serve as well as themselves.

Tell us about the typical volunteer.

Our volunteers are college graduates who are eager to use their education to contribute to the well-being of those who have not enjoyed the privileges that have been theirs. They are capable, dedicated and ready for responsible positions. For example, they serve as case managers, teachers, legal aid assistants, resident assistants, mentor match specialists and coordinators of volunteers and although CVIF is based in the Catholic Tradition, applicants from other faiths are welcome.

New Name and Logo for Our Health System

New Name

After months of successful integration of two major Catholic health systems, Catholic Health East and Trinity Health, we have now been united under a new single name, Trinity Health.  The name brings all of the ministry's colleagues together as one organization in identity, in the same way we are already unified in Mission, Core Values, Vision and Strategy. We will continue to serve our community as Allegany Franciscan Ministries - proud to be part of the new Trinity Health. Click here to read the entire article.

New Logo

Trinity Health also has a new logo that reflects the spirit and purpose of our ministry. It is a contemporary and inviting design that is meaningful to our ministry:
  • A cross reflects our Catholic identity, heritage and mission and, formed of the wings of doves, symbolizes love, peace and caring
  • Three purple doves represent the Holy Trinity in a color symbolic of  leadership, wisdom and creativity
  • One green dove, a symbol of our openness to new partners and new ideas, in a color symbolizing growth, renewal and environmental stewardship
