Plus Fireworks Safety, PSE Savings in Sumner and more
June 30, 2016 - Volume 8, Issue 25
Mayor Enslow is taking a short break from the e-news.  Please have a safe 4th of July weekend, and he'll be back shortly.
Get Ready for Music Off Main!

Sumner's popular outdoor music concert series begins this Friday, July 1, kicking off both the 4th of July weekend and another great month of music in Downtown Sumner.

This Friday's concert is a classic, 1940s-style USO Show by ACT1 Theatre Productions. The variety-style show includes a jazz band-swing dance contest, a patriotic sing-a-long, barbershop quartet and more.  It's as American as rhubarb pie!

BMX Event Comes to Sumner

This weekend is the first USA BMX Lumberjack Nationals at River Valley BMX park, just south of Sumner.  July 1-3, please help welcome 1,500 riders and their families to our area for three days of intense qualifying and racing. BMX (Bicycle Moto-Cross) is a fast paced, high intensity, action sport where riders race one lap around a highly technically dirt track composed on jumps, steep turns and technical sections. Thank you to the Tacoma-South Sound Sports Commission for bringing this event, and its business, to our community.  More info at www.tacomasports.org

To help all the participants and guests find places to eat in Sumner, we've updated our dining page at www.rhubarbpiecapital.com.  If you see any errors or omissions, please let us know.

Plan for Firework Safety

Please note that legal fireworks are allowed in Sumner ONLY on the 4th of July from noon to midnight.  Please consider the following for a Sumner-Safe 4th of July:

1.  Consider not shooting off your own fireworks at all and opt for visiting one of the professional shows instead.  With drier than usual conditions, this is a great option to avoid causing a fire in your home or neighborhood.

Let's have a fun-and safe-4th of July!

PSE Brings Savings to Sumner

July 5-22, Puget Sound Energy is bringing all customers in Sumner a hot deal that will help everyone shrink their energy bill! To help Sumner residents save energy, PSE is offering a free LED to every PSE residential electric customer. PSE's team will be hand-delivering LEDs and providing some valuable information to our community this summer, so be sure to keep an eye out for them!

Each PSE customer who switches just one old incandescent light bulb to an energy-efficient LED will save over $125 over the life of the bulb.  Not only do LED bulbs help you save money, but they last 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs while only using up to 85 percent less energy! Don't miss out on this opportunity-together, we can show that even small upgrades can have a large impact. Visit http://pse.com/savingsandenergycenter/Rebates/Pages/save-money.aspx to learn more.
