Tell Us About Transit

In the wake of Pierce Transit's cuts, many people are wondering what kind of service is needed, who needs to go where, how such service could be provided, and how to pay for it.

Mayor Enslow and other mayors in eastern Pierce County cities would like to know more from you about what kind of service you want (if any), would use, and where.

Please take a few moments to fill out the online survey or pick up a hard copy at City Hall, the Puyallup/Sumner Chamber of Commerce, Pierce County Sumner Library and the Sumner Senior Center.

Take Your Part in Sumner's History
Sumner High School students returning from  "Senior Sneak Day" on April 25, 1923.

Sumner is putting together a historical picture book with Arcadia Publishing. The book will be compiled through this winter and then printed next year. The City of Sumner is excited to gather photos to help tell the story of our collective history.

Do you have photos taken in Sumner that you would like to share? We'll scan them and send the electronic file to Arcadia, returning the photo itself to you.

Drop off your photo, a description of what it is, and your return address by February 28.  Send to Sumner City Hall, attention Carmen Palmer, 1104 Maple Street, Sumner WA 98390.  Or, if your photo is already electronic, send to carmenp@ci.sumner.wa.us.  The publishers ask that photos be scanned at 8 inches wide and 300 dpi.

Are you wondering what's new around town?  Would you like to meet your neighbors?  Sign up for Sumner University!  This popular program, held every two years, is returning March 5th and 12th.  Both nights are 6-9 pm in Sumner City Hall.

Scheduled classes help you learn more about things like police, animal control, innvovations and how they affect your quality of life.  As always, Sumner University ends with your chance to tell us what's great in Sumner, what could be better and what we can all do to make it better.

Space is limited.  Free registration reserves your location and gets you a coursebook, snacks, and a diploma and t-shirt if you graduate (attend both nights).

Sign up today with Sally Abrams at sallya@ci.sumner.wa.us or 253-299-5520. Please register by February 25.

Students enjoy the opening of the 2011 Sumner University with Mayor Enslow.
