BOARD BULLETIN - ALERT
We met with AKC on December 17, 2014 and have negotiated a change to the rules concerning Australian Shepherd parents of a Miniature Australian Shepherd.
This change does not affect the deadline concerning conversion of an AKC Australian Shepherd to an AKC Miniature American Shepherd. The deadline of December 31, 2014 will be enforced.
This change does not affect the deadline concerning the purposeful breeding between an Australian Shepherd and a Miniature American Shepherd and/or Miniature Australian Shepherd. The deadline of December 31, 2014 will be enforced. This means that any Miniature Australian Shepherd having an Australian Shepherd parent that is whelped on or after January 1, 2015 will not be eligible for registration in AKC as a Miniature American Shepherd.
The negotiated change is:
Any Miniature Australian Shepherd born by December 31, 2014 that has an Australian Shepherd parent and is registered, or eligible to register, with a recognized Miniature Australian Shepherd registry, will be eligible for registration into AKC under the "grandfathering" clause.
What this means is that any Miniature Australian Shepherd born by December 31, 2014, having an Australian Shepherd parent, that is registered with NAMASCUSA, NSDR, MASCA, ASDR, or IMASC, or is eligible to register with any of those registries, will continue to be eligible to register in AKC on or after January 1, 2015 as long as these registries are recognized by MASCUSA. The rule that both parents of the applicant dog must have registration in a recognized registry (which will also include AKC, ASCA, and the Canadian Kennel Club, as additional Australian Shepherd registries) will continue to be enforced. Current MASCUSA rules require that the eligible dog be registered with one of the recognized registries, be eligible to be registered by NAMASCUSA, or have a NAMASCUSA-issued Individual Dog Registration from a registered litter (yellow or blue puppy paper).
The exception to the above would be any Miniature Australian Shepherd that is also registered with AKC as an Australian Shepherd as they are affected by the conversion deadline of December 31, 2014 which will be enforced.

Mid America Affiliate supported a Special Attraction at the recent MASCUSA sponsored AKC Rally Trial in Oklahoma
A letter was sent to AKC following the event
"I just wanted to give you a report on the Special Attraction hosted in December 2014
As 2014 draws to a close I have to say that day was one of the best days I experienced in 2014!
The Champs competitors were so excited to run thru a Novice A Rally Course and be judged by an official AKC Judge. Spectators literally had tears in their eyes as each competitor took their turn on the course. Some competitors had a coach assist and others went solo, but each one was judged on the relationship they showed with the dog. Our judge was amazed at the precision they showed. Many of them cannot speak very clearly but the dogs understood, some have awkward gaits but the dogs don't mind, and many of the competitors have difficulties even being in a social environment, but not on that day! We had lovely ribbons and detailed score sheets for everyone and it was awesome! I am sending a few photos in case you want to use them anywhere and if not, just enjoy because they will sure make your heart sing!"

AFFILIATE RENEWAL
All club affiliates seeking renewal with MASCUSA must submit the following documentation with the application. All documents must be received and reviewed by the Board before the renewal of an affiliate club will be approved.
Affiliate renewal period will be from January 1 to April 1 of each year.
- 1. Officer list that must include president, vice president, secretary and treasurer (secretary and treasurer may be the same person if the club's bylaws allow), and board members. All officers must be current members of MASCUSA. This list must include office held, names, addresses, and emails
- 2. Current membership list that includes names, addresses, and emails.
- 3. List of activities - educational, public outreach, fundraising, and events held, etc. within the last year. Two activities minimum are required each year.
- 4. Bank account information - proof of a bank account, bank address, title of the bank account (must be in the club's name), and names on the account (must be two current members on the account minimum).
- 5. Opening and closing bank balance with debits and credits specifically listed for the year. If associated with an activity, it must state which activity.

Not going to the 2015 MASCUSA Nationals but want to be part of the action?
The Conformation show committee is looking for someone to be the pre-show judges' liason.
This person would communicate with all prospective and hired judges regarding requests to judge and contracts. He/she would also handle any communications prior to the show starting. This person could also be someone showing in the companion and performance events but not in conformation or MVA. Please contact Therese Stoebner at RavenRockFarm@gmail.com.
