Effective Immediately-
Foreign-born litters that have two Miniature American Shepherd parents recorded with AKC/FSS may submit these litters directly to AKC utilizing the FSS Litter Application. This policy was implemented by AKC because the Miniature American Shepherd is an American developed breed which is not currently recognized in other countries. Foreign-born litters of this breed may continue to be directly submitted to AKC upon full recognition. This policy will remain in effect until such time as each individual foreign country recognizes this breed. Upon recognition by an individual foreign country, these litters will be required to be submitted to that country's recognized registry.

Idiopathic Epilepsy
The University of Minnesota is conducting research for Idiopathic Epilepsy in the Australian Shepherd and several other breeds. The Miniature American Shepherd and the Miniature Australian Shepherd are invited to participate in this research.
The research program is actively looking for DNA submissions of dogs that exhibit seizures. A blood sample from your veterinarian and submission forms are required at the owners expense. If you would like to submit a blood sample to this research please go to: www.cvm.umn.edu/vbs/faculty/mickelson/lab/ie/home.html
Submission forms and instruction can be found in Idiopathic Epilepsy.
They are also looking for Control Dogs that are 8 years of age or older that have never exhibited seizures.
Please support this research with your DNA submissions and Donations.

This has never happened to me before and I've been breeding these little dogs for 10 years. The mom is 13 " tall and dad is 14" tall and this pup is now 7 weeks old and weighs 14 oz. and is shorter than a pepsi can standing up. She doesn't know she is little and eats constantly but doesn't seem to be growing much. Her littermate sister is more than twice her size.
She is a doll though.

Calling all members who would like to see well written articles, brochures, and pamphlets with beautiful pictures for/about our dogs published
.
I need volunteers to assist with the Public Relations Committee. One of the first projects is to put together a feature article for the SHOWSIGHT Magazine. These are exciting times in the history of our club and your help and input is much needed. Please let me know through a private email if you would be willing to help with the all-important advertising for our club moving forward in full recognition in AKC. There are other very important items that need our attention as well. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to participate and help get the job done. Together we can have great information, beautiful pictures about our wonderful breed, information about their personalities and trait, along with their accomplishments all published for the public to see. It is my hope that we can form an outstanding PR Committee so we can share with the public how far we have come with our breed. Please consider this committee as your way to help get the information into print for our breed.
