Xena is 5 months old here.
"I wanna know who's bright idea it was to buy this bunny costume!!
Xena Princess Warrior
It was Darlene who bought it!!! But Carolyn put me in it!!
Oh the indignity of it! Whoever heard of a Princess Warrior in a bunny suit!"
Xena proves to be a true Princess Warrior
Reminiscent of "Timmy fell down the well!"
That Xena is going to be a great dog! Tonight she jumped on me and kept bounding and nudging me till I woke up. I heard something, but it just sounded like thunder far away. I tried to roll over and fall back asleep, but she kept jumping up and down on top of me. I heard the noise again, and thought there might be something strange about the sound. Xena kept on nudging and jumping till I sat up and listened harder. It sounded like someone was in the barn knocking over the feed barrels. One is empty and the other is nearly empty. I jumped up figuring I must have forgotten to double latch the door and the horses got into the main part of the barn and were having a good old time. Got up, dressed, and grabbed a maglight. As I went out to the barn I saw the door was latched...then I thought it might be stupid raccoons rolling around the feed bins and that Darlene has my pistols for the conceal carry class. Started counting horses and came up one Bug short. I got into the open stall part of the barn and found that he was down next to the back wall. He had been laying down and stuck his foot through the very bottom wood rails and couldn't get his feet free. Seems he would get one foot free then another would get stuck. I couldn't pull him out at first I wasn't strong enough. Called Darlene to see if she could come and help.
Bug was really good though. As soon as I came over to him, he stopped struggling and kicking. Which was a great thing for my safety. It was like he was saying, "get me out of here". No open wounds, not even a scrape on the hair on his legs so he just must have started struggling. Ran back into the house, got my cotton rope and ran back out. Looped the one foot that seemed to be major sticking point. I put a halter on his head and tugged his forequarters around a bit leaving just that one pretty stuck. He continued to relax, and that let me pull the foot from under the railing that he was stuck under. I continued to pull on that foot until I flipped him over to the other side. He got right up. Boy am I glad that I worked with him with ropes around his legs and feet. He appeared to fine and by the time Darlene got there, I had walked him around a bit to see that he wasn't limping and there were no visible wounds that I could see. I Banamined him, put him in the solid stall with the camera and put some hay and water in there. Doesn't seem to be anything wrong with him. I'll sleep in the livingroom tonight and watch the camera.
Darlene said that Xena met her by the door and was all over her too. Xena stayed by the fence the remainder of the time and never made a sound. She doesn't seem to bark (which I don't mind) but will poke you alot. You know when she needs something. And she really sticks to me. This reminds of "Lassie".....I was really glad I was home tonight. Even more glad that Xena was here!
Owned and loved by Carolyn Williams from Macomb , IL
Story sent in by Connie Orwig , Xena was bred by Alstar Aussies |

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
March 11-12, 2014
Foundation Stock Service Open Show Regulations:
The Board reviewed a Staff proposal to make two changes to the Foundations Stock Service Open Show Regulations.
1) Allow an individual who would be defined as a professional handler to be eligible to exhibit a dog in an FSS Open Show if the individual is an owner ... of record. 2) Revise the awarding of points in the Group of an Open Show to be consistent with that of Best in Miscellaneous Class.
This will be discussed further at the April meeting
