Please check your AKC and your NAMASCUSA registrations papers when they arrive, if there are any errors contact Mindy ASAP.  It is much easier to correct papers now then a year or two down the road, and typos are unavoidable so read your papers carefully.

Thank you!

It is very important to remember to include a copy of your AKC Miniature American Shepherd papers when submitting paperwork to us for processing!

MEET THE BREED

JAVITS CENTER

NEW YORK CITY

SEPT. 28 & 29

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

MASCUSA has been invited by AKC to partcipate in their yearly MTB. In order to do so we must have volunteers willing to set up and man the booth for Sat. & Sun.

We must give AKC an answer "yes" or "no" by Aug. 15th. A MINIMUM of 3 people plus dogs are required in order to participate. I would like to see more people so that breaks can be taken as needed. I have not received time information from AKC yet. To be posted upon receipt.

You will receive free admission, lunch, and a stipend toward gas and parking.

The best booth will receive an award. This is a wonderful PR opportunity for our breed and I hope that we can be there, BUT we need our members, LIKE YOU, to step forward.

Please email me at: events@mascusa.org

   Laurie Morrow

Since my husband's emergency surgery in Feb. 2012, we've been pretty much OUT due to my complete lack of computer speak!

But when she could leave him alone for a few hours in May, Laurie and Banner went to some nearby shows. He got his Companion Dog (novice) and Rally Novice titles with an obedience High in Trial and 2 High in Rally Trials. See Photo).

In November 2012 Banner finished his Companion Dog Excellent (open) and Rally Advanced with another High in Rally Trial.

December ended with Laurie's heart attack, but in May Banner earned his Rally Excellent with still another High in Rally Trial.

GR. Ch. Sun-Up Star Spangled, CDX. RE (Banner) is now on the march for AKC agility titles. His first trial was only 2 days and he won 1st in both standard and Jumpers with 2 perfect scores! Not bad for having a substitute handler! (Laurie's heart attack and recent bronchitis does not permit her to run yet)

NAMING MY DOG WITH THE AKC

Question: What are the AKC's requirements with naming my dog?

Answer: Naming guidelines are as follows:

  1. All letters in a dog's name are limited to the standard
English alphabet. When registration certificates are printed,
all letters are capitalized. Diacritical markings (accent grave,
accent acute, umlaut, etc.) are not printed on registration
    certificates in a dog's name.
  2. Registered Kennel Names cannot be included in a dog's
name unless the use is authorized by the owner of that
    Kennel name.
  3. Roman numerals MUST NOT not be included at the end of
the dog's name. The AKC reserves the right to assign roman
numerals for identification purposes. The AKC permits
thirty-seven (37) dogs of each breed to be assigned the
    same name.
  4. There are NO RESTRICTIONS on cardinal (one, two, three)
and ordinal (first, second, third) numbers.
  5. Words and phrases that may NOT be included in a dog's
    name:

    a. Champion, champ, sieger and any AKC title or show term,
    either spelled out or abbreviated.
    b. Obscenities and words derogatory to any race, creed or
nationality or transliterations of such words.
    c. Kennel(s), male, stud, sire, bitch, dam and female.
    d. Breed names alone.
  6. An imported dog must be registered with the same name
under which it was registered in its country of birth, except
for the addition of a registered kennel name.

Name choices are limited to (36) thirty-six characters. Spaces
between words, apostrophes and hyphens are counted.

Note: Effective, February 1, 2008, AKC is testing a pilot
program that allows for the registered name of a dog to contain
up to (50) fifty characters. An additional $10 fee will be
incurred when more than (36) thirty-six characters are chosen.

Miniature American Shepherd Breed to be featured Worldwide in Showsight Magazine for 1st time!!!

As we hope that you have heard, we are publishing a special feature on Mini American Shepherds.Featuring the breed in a special September/October FALL EDITION! We would love to have you be a part of this exciting issue that will tour the world!!!

We are going to have multiple different educational written topics on the breed-such as judging, history, versatility of the breed, judging and amusing stories. We are also going to concentrate on versatility and not just conformation.
Advertising wise we will have owners and breeders advertise their kennels ,past ,current show dogs, dogs that they are competing with in different eventsor just celebrating the breed in any way anyone would like. Even if you compete with your dogs in other events and not as active in conformation you are more than welcome to showcase your kennel-versatility of your dogs all over the World. It is a great way for you to show all over the world yourself, your kennel,
past and present dogs.

DISTRIBUTION: The summer issue will be distributed for free at close to 90% of shows all across the United States and Canada starting mid September and will go through all October. However, our best audiences are the judges and breeders who enjoy ShowSight in the comfort of their home, where they have the time to relax and read in comfort. EVERY SINGLE AKC AND CANADIAN JUDGE will receive a copy for free and this specific issue will be sent to as many Mini American Shepherd clubs WORLDWIDE as we find . That is all printed glossy coffee table magazine copy .Best to our knowledge this is the first time that All Breed Magazine is featuring the breed Worldwide. Besides the hard copy ;ALL ARTICLES AND ADVERTISEMENTS WILL BE ON OUR JUDGES ED WEBSITE showsightmagazine.com at least for 24 months- probably permanently -this will be sent every month to over 250,000 dog breeders, owners, exhibitors and judges Worldwide .Mini American Shepherd Breed will have its own digital book on our website . Our breed features are particularly popular with judges and breeders; we get letters, calls, and comments from judges regarding each and every one. Here I will be very blunt so my apologies; if you are interested in representing the breed and showcasing your past, current dogs or puppies this is where you should be. Best bang for the buck! The whole point to this edition is to educate on the breed and show all the Judges, breeders, exhibitors and handlers a lot of great Mini American Shepherds -which is you-your dogs.

We are offering special breed feature rates: one full page color at $475 or a two page color spread at $750. That is a one time breed feature rate. All you need to do is email the photos and wording, then let our award winning graphic artists design your page. All ads will be cover quality ads.We will not print the ad until you say that you love it!!! The deadline to submit all ad information to us is August 18th.

If an extension is needed, please call
863 640 8848. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me anytime aj@dmcg.com

We look forward to your support and plan to give you all the exposure in the world as we put together a lively presentation on the breed that you love so much. Here's wishing you a great week and continued success in the show ring.
