AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB'S CANINE GOOD CITIZEN
BECOMES AN OFFICIAL AKC TITLE
New York, NY - In celebration of dogs with good manners at home and in the community, beginning January 1, 2013, passing the AKC's Canine Good Citizen test can be recognized as an official American Kennel Club title for all dogs.
Since the program began in 1989, the CGC has been considered an "award." Dogs that passed the 10-step test received a certificate, but CGC was not listed on the dog's title record. Now as a result of frequent requests from dog owners and instructors, owners of dogs registered or listed with AKC will be able to use the CGC suffix after the dog's name and include Canine Good Citizen on their dog's official title record.
"We're pleased to celebrate the accomplishments of the thousands of dogs that pass the Canine Good Citizen test each year by offering CGC as a title," said Mary Burch, PhD, director of AKC's Canine Good Citizen program. "The CGC program tests the skills that make dogs a joy to live with and many owners have expressed the desire to officially add this 'badge of honor' to the end of their dog's official AKC name. We hope that CGC is the first of many titles these dogs earn."
For dogs that pass the test on or after January 1, 2013, owners will be able to choose from two options on the CGC test form: CGC as a title or CGC certificate only.

   MARS logo

Hi again - I promised an update with the results of the MARS
End of Year Fundraiser and I have been a bit slow in reporting.

Before you think I'm negligent, let me tell you the real reason -
the donations just keep coming!!!

Thanks to all the Mini Lovers out there, MARS has raised nearly
$13,000 in the last few weeks - all of which will be put to good
use in the coming months as we continue to care for the ones
that, through no fault of their own, need our help.

For those of you that donated, for those of you that cheered
us on through many many days of hourly posting and calculating,
thank you so much. For those of you that haven't yet participated,
there's still time...
Marla

New Member,  Lee Fairchild!

Lee Fairchild

Hello my name is Lee Fairchild, I need to add that I am 53 years young to disprove that you have to be a kid to do what i do. I am from the Norman Oklahoma area, and I am happy to be a new member of the MASCUSA and the proud owner of an awesome Mini-Aussie that i am already predicting great things for in the future. He came from Patchworks Farms, Linda Perry, and some of you may have already watched his you-tube videos. He is progressing rapidly by the day and is already pushing my 2 time Skyhoundz Micro-dog Gracie in the picture to keep ahead of him, and is beating my other Micro-dog DD, that finished 7th in the World Finals in 2012, 2 out of 3 times in local practices. At some point i would like to do a seminar on disc dogs, throwing, tips etc that some could attend and make it a sport where the mini's could dominate...Good luck with your dogs in 2013 just being your best friends as well as any dog sports that you do and Happy New Year.................Lee--- Gracie the 2010 and 2012 Skyhoundz World Micro-Dog Disc Dog Champion below, she is over 9 years old.

Oklahoma and the dog world lost a very wonderful person and dog trainer this past week. Please take a moment and read this short story about "Phoebe, a pretty little blue merle Australian Shepherd with intense blue eyes that seemed to look into your soul".  In the story you get a glimpse of the woman, Sandy Case, and her great passion for understanding her dogs, for helping people learn about dogs and her sense of humor. Hope you enjoy the story as much as she hoped people would and maybe even understand a little more about dogs! Click the link below....
