Picasso's Sweet Baby James, "Taylor", 21 months old at his second NADAC show. Out of Multi CH. Picasso's Suni Rose and Gr. CH. Taycin's Radiant Red Rogue. |
After two days of the NADAC show in Arizona, this weekend. It shows CH. Picasso's Suni Rose (Rosie) with three of her offspring (litter mates) who were also competing in the show.
From left to right are Diva (Picasso's Unexpected Treasure), Rosie, Taylor (Picasso's Sweet Baby James) and Shilo (I'm not sure about his registered name - you may have it, he's owned by Charlotte Hardy).
Rosie is competing at the Elite level, it was the second show for Taylor and Shilo, and Diva's first. They will be two years old in February.
I'm very proud of these four! They did very well, as evidenced by the ribbons before them! from Becky Gilbert |

Australian Shepherd Health & Genetics Institute
The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) recently committed $75,000 in support of canine health research grants through the AKC Canine Health Foundation and Morris Animal Foundation (MAF.) Among those was a grant to the Animal Health Trust (AHT) for Australian Shepherd cataract research from MAF. Cataracts are the Aussie's most common eye disease.
The goal of the AHT study is to identify additional genes contributing to cataracts in Australian Shepherds. While most Aussie cataracts are associated with a mutation of the HSF4 gene, identified by a previous AHT effort, around 30% are not. As people utilize the screening test for HSF4 and gradually reduce the impact of that particular cause, other genes will account for an increased proportion of cataracts that occur. This research may give breeders additional tools they can use to lower the frequency of this potentially blinding disease in the breed.
ASHGI also sponsored this grant and would like to thank OFA for lending their support to this important research.

ATTENTION PHOTOS NEEDED!
The club needs good quality photographs of dogs in various settings, i.e., herding, agility, obedience, family/companionship, etc. These photographs will be used for a variety of things such as use in brochures, other forms of advertising, on the website, etc. If you have some great photographs, please send them in. You will need to submit a Photograph Release Form for any photographs you submit. This form can be found on our website under MASCUSA Forms. The higher the resolution, the better.
Send the photos to Mindy [email protected]
