The Financial Review Committee would like to give the following update to the Board and members:
At this time we are in the stages of obtaining and reviewing several documents that govern the operation of the organization as well as recent years' financial records and documents for this club.
Our intention is to conduct a review of several month's receipts and revenues along with the general operation of the club's business practices and offer process improvement suggestions, if needed, for the club.
Our committee is made up of volunteers with several years experience in the financial field who want to ensure that this audit is done following the standards set forth for a small non-profit organization. Currently we are striving to have our first report to the members during the month of January due to the upcoming holidays. Please remember that we are volunteers working hard to make sure that we provide accurate and useful data back to this club.
The Financial Review Committee
Members: If you were notified by the Registrar that your payment was not received with your paperwork to be processed, please send those payments in now along with the registration number for the payment. As the end of the year approaches we need to close out the books for the previous year and request that all members send in any payments that are due. Please include the registration numbers on the dog or litter you are paying for with the payment. Please contact the Registrar if you have any questions.
Respectfully
The Financial Review Committee

The new OFA Eye Certification Registry will be available as of November 1, 2012. Transition to this new registry should be seamless for both owners and examining ophthalmologists:
EXAMS - There will be no changes to the existing exam protocols. The standard exam process will still be conducted by ACVO Diplomates assessing dogs for the presence or absence of observable hereditary eye disease.
RESULTS - There will be no changes to the interpretation or classification of the exam results. Dogs with normal eye exams will receive OFA eye clearance numbers similar to the OFA numbers issued for hips, elbows, cardiac, etc. Dogs with observable, but passing conditions (currently known as Breeder Option Codes), will be issued notated OFA eye clearance numbers. Dogs with observed eye diseases of significance will be reported as ineligible for eye clearance numbers. A complete list of Breeder Option Codes and Ineligible Categories will be available on the OFA website soon.
FORMS - All active ACVO Diplomates will receive the new OFA exam forms by mid-October in advance of the transition. The forms will be similar in format to the exam forms currently in use. Go to this link for more information: http://www.offa.org/

Introducing a New Member!
Alice Heckman
I am a new member of this group. My year and a half little American Shepherd named Isis is by far the smartest little dog we have ever owned. She keeps us on our toes! I am also new to the world of dog training and have lots to learn. Isis and I go to an obedience class and an agility class every week. It seems I have as much or more to learn than she has! Hopefully we will be ready to compete at the novice level next spring. Isis is quite a character and follows me everywhere. Here is a picture of her "helping" make Christmas presents!
