Register and Microchip
A growing trend among breeders is to sell all of their pups registered and microchipped. Here's why. These pups can easily be tracked by the breeder during follow-up and litter evaluation. Knowing the name of a dog speeds up the search in databases such as the OFA. Record evidence shows those shelters, veterinarians and the AKC all report that micro chipped dogs and cats have the best chance of being returned to their owner. Very few micro chipped dogs end up with a rescue group. With discounts from AKC/ and CAR the process is easy. Instead of a $20/pup registration fee, the cost is $12/pup if all of the pups are registered to the breeder.
CAR now offers a free microchip program. For more information call AKC at (919) 233 9767 or AKC/CAR at (800) 252-7894 |

BREEDING TO THE GREAT DOGS
By Carmen L. Battaglia
"What we work for we value most"
INTRODUCTION
Educators, sociologists and psychologists all agree that the past has taught us not to abandon the fundamental principles that have stood the test of time. This is because many of our traditions and beliefs are deeply rooted in our way of life. These fundamentals have guided breeders for many years and can be stated in the following way:
- We will save those that we cherish,
- What we cherish will have the traits we have learned to love,
- What we love will depend on what we understand,
- In the end, What we understand, will depend on how well we have learned from our past.
Fundamentals serve as a reminder to all breeders. Without an understanding of thepast, ignorance will continue and informed judgments will not be passed forward. In many ways, the past and future are close cousins, because our future depends largely on how well we understand and learn from the sharp turns in the road. The life of a breeder has often been described as an adventure, not a packaged tour and in a sport that values competition, breeders are constantly faced with uncertainties.

Here is a pic of Pacey and his best buddy on his bday. It is 100% true in our house that a dog is a boys best friend. Doing one of their favorite activities together...watching tv in bed on a lazy morning!

FUTURE STARS!
I love hearing about the upcoming youngsters whether canine or human! Better yet when the update includes both! We can all share with todays technology and by sharing we encourage others to reach for their dreams as well.
