This has been another amazing couple of weeks for the Miniature American Shepherds!
If smiles were counted as gold, we would be millionaires! Hope you enjoy the many happy faces in this weeks Tuesday Talk! |
Karen Cooper and her agility dogs are off to a great start!
Karen Cooper writes...But, unlike Icy, we have a long way to go with only have 3 agility weekends under our belts. Pictures are attached of Mia and Bailey with AKC and CPE ribbons from their first 2 AKC trials and 1st CPE trial. Mia finished her AKC Novice standard and jumpers preferred titles and CPE level 1 standard title. Bailey finished her AKC Nov. standard preferred title and her CPE level 1 standard and handlers titles. It was a nice "warm" 90 degrees Saturday with very high humidity making it tough for any dog to want to run. On Sunday it dropped to the 60's for the high, making it hard for any dog to want to do anything but "play" in the cool weather! |

Whistling Dixie of AIM
Well, here my little darling is. She hates to pose hence the droopy ears but in the agility course those ears fly !! Her first AKC trial and she Q'd in 50% of her classes. I have no doubt she would have qualified in all her classes but mom hasn't been consistent in practicing for the past month. Anyway, I couldn't be prouder of her. She was worn out after the weekend and then I got to share my favorite activity with her, snuggling !!!!!

How to Count The CM Points!
The Certificate of Merit (CM) requires 15 points awarded in accordance with the following point structure
(Dogs Competing Points) :
2 dogs = 1 point
4 dogs = 2 pts
8 dogs = 3 pts
12 dogs = 4 pts
16 dogs = 5 pts
Your own dog counts as one dog.... but if you are the only dog in your Breed, you can still go onto the Best In Miscellaneous Class (MISC is NOT considered "Group" at the regular dogs shows, by the way).
Each BOB Misc. dog gets to compete with the other BOB Misc breed winners and can earn more points (total of up to 5 in any show) by counting ALL (not just the BOB winners) of the MISC dogs that were actually shown.
* To be awarded the Best In Misc (BIMISC) ribbon, you don't need to have any other dogs in competition. If you are the only MISC entry and you show in the BIMISC competition ..... you win the BIMISC.
NOTE : You may also earn CM points in Puppy Competition and at "Open" shows. At these competitions the Misc Class winners and the FSS Class winners do go onto compete in their "Groups" (confusing, huh?) But they also get to compete for the Best in Show as well.
Open Shows and Puppy Competition do not allow Breed Standard DQ's in the 4-6 month puppy class .... so a puppy could earn a CM and not actually meet the Breed Standard (oversize, bad bite, pink noses, etc.).
AKC/Eukanuba National Championship
Dogs Eligible for the Miscellaneous Competition Honor Roll
Miscellaneous breeds who have won a CM (Certificate of Merit title) or at least three (3) Best of Breed WITH COMPETITION or One (1) Best in Misc. class WITH COMPETITION during the current qualifying period will earn a place on the Honor Roll. Those who qualified under the Misc. Requirements, and are now a regular status breed, will compete in the Regular Classes.

Bar D Soleil In Hot Pursuit
Sharing this little dog all the way to Japan!
Under a week ago, "Bar D Soleil In Hot Pursuit" made her journey to Tokyo Japan. Soleil, now 11 months old, finally made her long 2 day trip to Japan. As far as we know, Soleil is the first Mini American or Mini aussie to go to Japan. 10 months is the length of time it took to do all of the vaccinations and testing to qualify her to gain entry into Japan. Akira Nagae is the happy dog owner and excited to have his new dog finally there. Akira's father and brother came to Despain's Livestock in September to meet Soleil, and it was love at first sight! I was so glad to actually meet the people this sweet little dog was going to live with. Good luck to Akira and Soleil!!! Nannette Despain / Bar D Kennel |

ATTENTION PHOTOS NEEDED!

The club needs good quality photographs of dogs in various settings, i.e., herding, agility, obedience, family/companionship, etc. These photographs will be used for a variety of things such as use in brochures, other forms of advertising, on the website, etc. If you have some great photographs, please send them in. You will need to submit a Photograph Release Form for any photographs you submit. This form can be found on our website under MASCUSA Forms. The higher the resolution, the better.
Send the photos to Mindy registrar@mascusa.org
