ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE AKC/FSS REGISTRATION DEPARTMENT
Due to the large volume of dogs entering FSS the registration dept for the FSS dogs is running behind. Papers could take 6 to 8 weeks to be processed, however they are very willing to put a RUSH on a dog needing a number to compete. Please be sure and submit your paperwork well in advance of planning to attend a trial.
Folks please let me know if you need a RUSH. AKC is trying very hard to process as quickly as possible and have been very good to work with! Email Mindy (registrar) if you need a RUSH. |
IMASC Registered Dogs Are Now Eligible For NAMASCUSA Registration. They must use the Hardship Application. Please contact the registrar if you need the application or vist it the MASCUSA Website and look under "Forms"! |

Meet The Breed Photo Request
Message from AKC!
I am delighted to inform you that our popular book, AKC Meet the Breeds, will be published in its third edition by BowTie Press this year. This up-to-date compilation of AKC breeds includes descriptions, facts and photos in an easy-to-read format for dog lovers of all ages. It is our goal to include every AKC-recognized breed in each edition of AKC Meet the Breeds. The American Kennel Club would like to invite the Miniature American Shepherd Club of the USA to participate in this project by providing at least two digital photos to represent the Miniature American Shepherd - one adult and one puppy!!
We sent the above request for photos on Sunday afternoon to our members and the response was huge!
BEAUTIFUL DOGS we have folks!!!
Please know how very much we appreciate you sending photos so quickly and the only sad part is they can't use all of them in the book! But even if your photo is not the one chosen for the Meet The Breed publication, we will keep them on file and we will be using a majority of them for other publications and projects!
THANK YOU EVERYONE and I hope your favorite photo is the one they chose ! |
*****************Check out the 2012 MASCUSA Nationals website***************
If you are only competing in the National Specialty you can enter with your AKC papers pending! Which means you must have your AKC enrollment application submitted to the MASCUSA office to Mindy.
If you enter any of the other AKC events you will need to have your AKC number before you enter. |

Some of you missed the first part of this series so I am putting it in this weeks Tuesday Talk , last week was Part II
Evaluating Dogs - Part I: Soundness, Structure and Breed Type
By Christi McDonald quote...
"For example, the front assembly that distinguishes the Bulldog from the Fox Terrier and the hindquarter structure in the Chow Chow versus that in the Irish Setter certainly contribute to the correct profile and action for those breeds - thus contributing to what makes them distinct from other breeds and their breed type. If we forget that correct structure and soundness contribute to breed type, in different ways for different breeds, we risk searching for a generic show dog that possesses general good structure and soundness, but perhaps lacks details of type."

ATTENTION PHOTOS NEEDED!

The club needs good quality photographs of dogs in various settings, i.e., herding, agility, obedience, family/companionship, etc. These photographs will be used for a variety of things such as use in brochures, other forms of advertising, on the website, etc. If you have some great photographs, please send them in. You will need to submit a Photograph Release Form for any photographs you submit. This form can be found on our website under MASCUSA Forms. The higher the resolution, the better.
