Join With the AKC to Protect Responsible Small Breeders

The American Kennel Club has created the Join With the AKC to Protect Responsible Small Breeders petition in response to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) new proposed regulations which would create harsh and unintended consequences for responsible small and hobby breeders in this country.

Please join us by signing the Join With the AKC to Protect Responsible Small Breeders petition before July 16 when the public comment period to the Animal Care Division of the USDA's Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service ends. The petition, along with AKC's comments on the proposed rule change, will be sent to the USDA.

Oregon - Best of Breed/Best In Miscellaneous/Eukanuba Qualifier-Timeless Zero Gravity

The Redmond Oregon show last weekend was a fun and rewarding weekend!

Sliver won BOB and Best of Misc on Sat, and placed in the other 2 shows!
It was exciting to be in one of the first AKC Shows for the Miniature
American Shepherds and be part of the experience. We all had a fun time
at Jan Goulds of Dusty Boots for a great BBQ and prizes. Thanks Jan !

I had a good experience at the show. I had several show people(handlers
from other breeds) I did not know, approach me and compliment
Sliver. They all mentioned they watched the Misc class. Additionally, two
of the Judges, highly complimented our dogs as we stood in the ring. No
dogs were wicketed and 2 judges used grooming tables.

A special thanks to all the board members that have worked so hard to make
this day happen! A special thanks to Karen Keller for my special girl
Sliver and congrats to Timeless, for all your Best of Misc winnings at the
past two weekends of AKC shows.

Have to brag about the first AKC Miniature American Show at the Bel Vernon Shows in WA State.  My girl Windance's Simply Irresistible " Brooklyn" went Best Opp. Sex on Saturday and today she got 2nd in her class. It was so fun showing AKC, I used to show Goldens, but it's fun showing our new breed. Everyone thinks they are so cute.

 Evaluating Dogs- Part II: Balance

By Christi McDonald

One of the foundation principles for evaluating dogs rests on an understanding of what "balance" means. Webster's defines balance as "a state of bodily equilibrium" or "to bring into or keep in equal or satisfying harmony or proportion." The AKC "Complete Dog Book" defines balance as "a condition wherein all proportions of a dog are in static and dynamic harmony." We know what balance means, and these definitions confirm our mental picture of balance........

 Balance

Balance can mean many things, depending on the breed, but the balance of angles in the front and hindquarter, in every breed, is fundamental to correct structure and movement.

 SHARING MY LIFE

Gus and Rowdy!

 B. Gilbert pups

I have a young couple as part of my " Picasso puppy family" that have given two of my pups the kind of home I'd wish for all my dogs. The red Merle boy is "Gus", out of my Twila (Patchwork's Twilight Masquerade) and Rowdy (Ch. All Shook Up), and the black tri is "Eli", out of Rosie (Ch. Picasso's Suni Rose) and Bear (Gr. Ch. Taycin's Black Bear of Thistlecreek).

Jane and Colby Neville are the owners,
