BUT FOR TODAY........IS YOUR DOG OR SOMEONE'S DOG THAT YOU KNOW A GOODWILL AMBASSADOR?
Our dogs touch our lives and other lives every single day. They encourage children to read, they help give them confidence, they love unconditionally. Maybe they keep us going by just being there for us, giving us a reason to keep going. They are more than just dogs, they are members of our families and part of our communities. Every day our dogs are doing things that make them shine in the eyes of those that love them. Please submit your stories of your special dog for the Goodwill Ambassador Award.
Here is a list of just a few of the things our special dogs might do!

Did you take your dog to work last Friday? Afterall it was National Take Your Dog to Work Day!
YES I take my dogs to work everyday I am a mobile dog groomer with a freightliner van/truck and have 6 minis
When its time to leave they all but 1 stand at the door to see who gets their name called
The little one hides in the cat tree LOL
Sometimes I take 2 somedays 3
Whoever gets their name called runs out the door and waits at the truck door They have beds on the floor and on the seat and a spill proof water and food bowl and heat and A/C
My customers love it Some of them take them in their house and spoil them while I have their pet out for grooming.

When does Down mean Off?
Do we sometime mix the two commands and wonder why we don't get the results we want! I love this story that was printed in the Canine Good Citizen Blog!
"Betty has a Boston Terrier puppy who she is taking to AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy classes. "She's doing pretty good," Betty told me. "She's good in class, but at home, there are a few things we need to work on. She gets on the couch and when I say, 'Down,' she just looks at me and lays down."
I explained to Betty that if "Down" meant "lay down" in class, she needed to use another word such as "Off" to mean "Get off the sofa."
I told her about this AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy story that was sent to the Canine Good Citizen department from the owner of a German Wirehaired Pointer puppy:
"I was teaching my German Wirehaired Pointer puppy the word, "Down," in puppy classes. One afternoon, I came out of my home office and found my dog standing in the middle of the dining room table. He was looking out the window and watching birds. Wanting him to get off the table, I emphatically said, "DOWN!" So, he looked at me and laid down, right in the middle of the table. He did exactly what I told him to do. It was a good lesson for me about choosing my words wisely when it comes to talking to my puppy."

THAT'S MY DOG !
ICY
 Icy winning her Mach5
Icy earned her 20th double Q for Mach5!! She is such a good little girl!! AND it was at our local trial, so all my friends were there to celebrate!!
To get a Mach you need 20 double Q's, which means a Standard Q and a Jumpers Q in the same day in EX B, and earn 750 speed points. So Icy has earned 100 double Q's and 3750 minimum speed points over her lifetime.
We also should be in the top 5 for the invitationals, and we are headed to the first Miniature American Shepherd Nationals in August!! I can't wait to see all the little dogs, and meet new people with the same love of our little dogs!! Thanks for letting me brag! :) Donna/Icy

This weekend is the debut for the Miniature American Shepherds in Miscellaneous! Oklahoma City, OK and Redmond, OR are the two hot spots to be to see the dogs showcased for the first time.
This report is just in from Oklahoma City
Come on out to Oklahoma City for the four-day OKC Summer Classic beginning Thursday. Although this is just the eighth year the Mid-Del-Tinker Kennel Club and Oklahoma City Kennel Club have teamed up to bring us four all-breed shows, it has already become one of the most anticipated events each summer.
The counts are in, and OKC is pleased to find that all four days have drawn well. While Saturday's OCKC entry of nearly 1,700 dogs is quite respectable, Thursday's MDTKC draw of 1,400 dogs is pretty amazing for a weekday show. The four days will offer up almost 6,200 points, more than enough to influence the national rankings. Now that is a lot of dogs and our dogs will be part of the 4 days of competition and fun, Obedieince and Rally is offered also, along with Meet The breeds and Judges Education seminars, Tons of vendors and themes for each days events! |

I think that the Working Aussie Source is one of the best locations on the net to find herding trials and clinics!
The opening page is for ASCA Trials but be sure and click on the Other Calendars and the Regional Calendars and other Events of Interest!
Keep in mind that AHBA does not require a club to put on a trial -- an individual can host a trial. So if you have a facility nearby that puts on AKC trials, there's no reason they can't also host AHBA events at the same location.

AKC HERDING TRIALS!
The Miniature American Shepherd is eligible to compete immediately in AKC Herding Trials! As soon as you receive your AKC/FSS number you can enter an AKC Herding Trial.

If you have earned an AKC Herding Title please let me know,
Now that we are eligible to compete in AKC Herding Trials, we want to acknowledge those dogs who are out there earning titles and legs towards titles. |

ATTENTION PHOTOS NEEDED!

The club needs good quality photographs of dogs in various settings, i.e., herding, agility, obedience, family/companionship, etc. These photographs will be used for a variety of things such as use in brochures, other forms of advertising, on the website, etc. If you have some great photographs, please send them in. You will need to submit a Photograph Release Form for any photographs you submit. This form can be found on our website under MASCUSA Forms. The higher the resolution, the better.
Send the photos to Mindy registrar@mascusa.org
