Dear Friends, As the wrapping paper makes it to the recycling bin and the shiny, new toys and gadgets are put away, we can truly say that we feel like we've been given the best gifts of all. More than 400 volunteers made their way through our doors this year. You work tirelessly for our animals, don't bat an eye when we ask you to move a load of cat litter, fold 12 loads of laundry or clean up a little "mess" in the lobby. We are so grateful for your gift of time. More than 20 people are employed at AWS and arrive at the shelter day in and day out not knowing what the day might bring. We can't think of a more stressful job on the planet, and yet, you leave each night knowing you've done your part to help an animal have a better life. We are grateful for your gifts of teamwork and professionalism. We regularly call upon a network of local veterinarians to provide treatment to our sickest...and you provide that treatment as if it were your own animal. We are grateful for your gift of expertise. Our hearts are filled by sheer number of people that come to AWS to find a new pet. From the young families teaching their children that shelter pets are great pets, to the elderly looking for a quiet companion, you make us smile every day. We are grateful for your gift of a new home and a fresh start. Finally, we are so very honored by the trust that our donors place in our work. We simply could not do all that we do, day in and day out, without the financial support of so many. You have made the impossible possible. We are grateful for your gift of life-changing support. On behalf of all us at AWS, thank you. We will continue to work hard to earn these priceless gifts. Our very best to you in 2013! We'll see you soon... |
