Hugh Groman Catering and Greenleaf Platters January 2013 Newsletter |
Everything that everyone says is true: They go above and beyond what a normal caterer will do. I would highly recommend Hugh Groman Catering for any event that you decide to host. Not only are they the best at what they do, they are truly wonderful people.

Staff Spotlight Anne Valdersnes
Sous Chef |
Anne V. started working with us a little over a year ago and has been one of our sous-chefs for 5 months. Originally from Denmark, Anne has lived in the US since age 19 where she studied law at UNLV. Anne is also a dancer specializing in the "Lindy-Hop." Every summer Anne travels to Sweden for six weeks and operates all food concessions for the dance camp at Herrang, the largest Lindy-Hop gathering in the world. It is there that she coordinates and cooks for thousands of people a day at multiple venues. At HGC/GLP, Anne is appreciated for her "can do" attitude, sense of humor, dedication to producing the finest food possible, and her direct, "Pan-Scandinavian" sensibilities. In addition to cooking, Anne enjoys reading, learning to play the cello, and taking care of her beloved Rottweiler, Fred.

Our Florist: Connie Hubbell
| Oftentimes our clients ask for recommendations for a florist. We always recommend our dear friend, Connie Hubbell of Hubbell Arts.
Connie Hubbell trained in both horticulture and floristry and loves working with nature. Her primary goal as a florist is to interpret the client's vision and create designs that enhance their event. One thread that is consistent is a respect for the integrity and nature of the materials themselves. You can reach Connie at hubbellarts@aol.com or by phone at 510-479-7104.

Message from Hugh
|

Happy New Year to all of you! It has been a HUGE year for us at Hugh Groman Catering, Greenleaf Platters, and Phil's Sliders. I personally have learned a ton about what I'm good at, what I'm not good at, and how to get out of my team's way so they can do what THEY are good at!
My husband and I recently visited my friend Ardela, who is 106 years old. (We catered parties for her 95th and 100th birthdays!) She told us great stories about her life, and gave us a pep talk about making the best out of life and keeping a positive attitude. Inspired by Ardela, I've come up with a New Year's resolution: "Work less, achieve more, and keep a positive attitude." What do you think?
I wish you all much health and happiness in the New Year!
Sincerely,
Hugh

Our Newest Baby
|
If you live in the Bay Area, you may have seen one of our two white cargo vans driving around town. We are happy to say we've added a much needed third van to our fleet. We're especially excited about this new Ford Transit Connect because it is more compact than a cargo van so it is easier to maneuver. It is also lighter and more fuel efficient! If you see us on the street, please say hello!

Thank you so much to those of you who have reviewed Phil's, HGC, and Greenleaf Platters on social networking sites such as YELP, Berkeley Parents Network, and Chowhound, as they are among the most powerful sources of new business for us. THANK YOU!
