Mother's Day 2014 is here, and if you are like me, you are wondering what would be a good gift to give mom for this special day.  My mother will be 90 this year, and it is not easy to purchase something for a person with her maturity.  During the past few years, she has a tendency to look at me like, "What am I to do with this?"  I have just started giving her a card and a box of chocolates each year, letting her know that she has a great son.  It gives her a good laugh and something to enjoy.

 

I do not know if your mother is like mine, but she has a lot of knick-knacks and things of importance to her from years ago in her home.  She is independent, fierce, and a little innocent at the same time.  My mother is not the same vibrant person she once was but retains much of her energy and all of her opinions!  She is a fantastic cook! There is a particular kind of grace and dignity that surround her, and this is humbling.

 

As the years go by, I understand the chance of her not being here much longer exists.  This fact makes Mother's Day more important to me every year.  My father is gone, and my mother is the keeper of many memories of our family.  She is a treasure trove of information about the past and the way things used to be. It is difficult to listen to the same stories over and over again sometimes, but I know it is because she is sharing important information about her life.  When she is gone, so will be those memories.

 

My work as a medium brings me into the families of my clients, and their mothers are very much like mine.  Many of them suffered from illness and did the best they could during their final years. My mother is fortunate to have good health.   I know how much my clients miss their moms and the precious relationships they had with them.  A mom is often your best friend and confidant when no one else will listen.  The expression "only a mother could love" is about very awkward and difficult situations that only moms seem to be able to  handle.  This universal fact is a comfort and a salvation for us.

 

It is sad in my work to learn some people do not enjoy a special relationship with their mothers.  The reasons vary greatly, but the outcome is the same for me.  It is sad when mom and child cannot find common ground.  It hurts both people, and this pain is evident even from the spirit world.  A reading often can bring closure and peace to both people, and this makes me feel very good when the right thing is said from a mom in spirit to a surviving child.

 

I am lucky to still have my mom this Mother's Day and know that she will always be with me in some fashion or form.  My relationship has not always been easy with her, but I knew she would be there for me if I was in need.  This Mother's Day, I hope you will have a great day with your mother.  If she is in spirit, it is my hope that you will be able to recall the good times with mom. If the good times are few, then I hope the ability to forgive her will come.  Sometimes it is hard to forgive, but if it possible, it can bring much peace and tranquility into your life.

 

If you are a mom, I hope you have a happy day. I want to wish my mother, mother-in-law and my fantastic wife a Happy Mother's Day as well.  Thank you for all of the hard work you do for your family.  What would the rest of us do without you?

This series of workshops is based on the experiences of psychic medium, John Cappello and is for those interested in communication with the spirit world.  Each class involves a lecture, meditation, and sitting with spirit in a safe environment.  Students will learn about preparing themselves to receive information, sensitivity to those in grief after a loss, and sensing those in spirit who wish to communicate to us in the living world.  A work book and practical advice will be part of the curriculum during the series.  It is suggested that students commit to all of the workshops to properly acquire experience and practice.

The cost of each workshop is $50 at the door, but the prepaid price per workshop is $45.  No refund will be available for prepayments.
