Recently, I was at a Spirit Gallery in a new place and virtually none of the people knew about my work.  They were there primarily to see what would happen and determine whether or not the event was billed truthfully or if there was some sort of fraud involved.  There was a duality of skepticism and hope that I would be able to demonstrate accuracy with my work.  It is always a challenge and a privilege to work with those who have never encountered a medium and experience the powerful messages that can be received.  However, in the beginning, there was one overriding question.

One person asked me, "What is the value of being able to connect with those who have crossed over?"  This question is the most common of all, and I gave the answer that I always give to satisfy that concern.  There are many parts to the answer of this question and the first part is the most obvious. 

Continuity of Life

The demonstration of the "continuity of life" by a third party giving you accurate information about a loved one or a friend in spirit is very powerful.  It is important that we have the ability to sense our loved ones around us because we are taught in our culture that we move to another place after our souls leave our bodies.

The ancient Jews, Greeks and Romans all believed in life continuing after we leave our bodies.  Eastern philosophy and religions hold this belief system as well.  Each culture has its own version of life after death, but it is there. Christianity built upon the idea of a life after death, and the concept of salvation was added to the belief.  We will all meet our Creator and live with Him under blissful circumstances.  This idea is virtually universal for mankind unless you are an atheist and believe that there is nothing after we die.

Atheism does not work well in my world because there is so much evidence of spirit all around us.  My work is easy in some ways because spirits seem to want to communicate so much with us.  I have been communicating with spirits for over 24 years, and the clarity of their presence seems so natural to me.  It is rare that I meet anyone who has not sensed the presence of a loved one in spirit.  Most people do not discuss it, but if pressed for an answer, they will acknowledge they talk to their parents, spouses, siblings, children, and guides on a regular basis.

Knowing Our Loved Ones Are Okay

What is the value of connecting with spirit?  The second part of the answer is to be assured that our loved ones are okay and in a safe place.  The third part is to know that they want to be around us and continue to love us from the spirit world.  Our relationship has changed from being physical to spiritual, but it remains.  A medium can astonish people when they do not expect to get detailed information from someone they loved who has died.

Knowing That We Will See Them Again

The next part of the answer is that our connection assures us that we will be with our loved ones again.  Once we pass into the next realm, we will enjoy their company again and not have the problems and worries that we experience in the world we live in today.  We are expected to live our lives to the fullest before we cross over, but once we have met the challenges of this life, we will enjoy the blissful nature of the spirit world.

Healing

Finally, the value of connecting with spirit is that it can be part of the healing process we encounter after a loss.  Grief can overtake us if we do not have the assurance of life after death.  Death is the end of one of our soul's experiences, but it is also the beginning of another one where we have conquered all of the needs of our physical life.  The work I do attempts to clarify and assure others of life after life.

My Spirit Gallery went very well in the new place where this question arose.  I know this because there were many tears and affirmations of the information received.  The spirits who came were helpful and forthcoming with information.  I was very proud and humbled to see the difference in the people before and after the event.  It was not me who did anything special because I was just the messenger.  The loved ones and guides who came were the real stars of the evening, and the people there were the beneficiaries of needed closure about those they loved and still hold very dear.  What is the value of connecting with spirit?  Priceless!

Developing our Intuition

One morning I thought about a friend of mine whom I hadn't communicated in quite some time.  I mentally sent out a message to her that we needed to talk.  She called me that afternoon.  I decided to take another way to a meeting.  It turned out the original way had an accident.

Have you ever just thought of somebody and the phone rings and it's the same person?  How are we able to cause these things to happen?  It is our natural intuition at work.  For years we have been told that we have this thing called intuition and that we should pay attention when it directs us.  The problem has been knowing how to direct your intuition to work for you.

Over 50 years ago a gentleman by the name of Jose Silva started studying psychology and intuition to help his children do better in school.  What he discovered is that we all have the ability to increase our intuitive ability and be able to direct its capabilities for our best and highest good.  From 22 years of research he developed methods that can be used by you and me to tap into our subconscious mind and actively use intuition.

There are three things we must learn to do in order to improve our abilities in this area.   The first is learning to meditate in a manner that slows our brain waves down to what scientists refer to as the alpha level.  This level taps us into our subconscious and is the brain wave level you achieve when in a hypnotic trance.  A 10-year research project at Newark College of Engineering revealed that executives whose companies have the greatest increases in profits score way above average in precognition - predicting the future - using their intuition.   They were found to dip into alpha when contemplating a decision. 

You can begin learning to go to alpha  by taking 20 minutes a day in a quiet place.  Count backwards from 100 to 1 while breathing slowly.  When you are able to do this without falling asleep, you can effectively meditate to the alpha level and then go to the second step.

The second is to learn to visualize what you want in your life.  We communicate with one another physically, emotionally, and mentally through language (verbal and body).   Words accompanied by pictures can be akin to being on the "Super Highway of Manifestation."  We then deliver this picture to our Tutors, Guardian Angels, or Counselors who in turn will work to have what you want happen or appear.  Thus, I pictured talking with my friends while dipping into the alpha state.

The third can actually be the hardest and that is releasing the picture from our consciousness with the knowledge that it has already been accomplished.  We just have to wait until the solution shows up in our life.
