Changing Perspective
by John Cappello
It is at this time of year that the consciousness of our society changes, and we begin to think about the holidays and the upcoming New Year. By this time, the current year has already made an imprint upon us that will remain in our memories for future years. Moving forward, the fall and winter cause us to remember special moments in our lives from previous years. These personal memories of people and events can modify our perspective on life on an individual basis, and this change is often due to a psychic moment in our lives when we gain a new sense of clarity.
This year, however, it is memories of some national events that changed the consciousness of our society that we are recalling. Fifty years ago, two major events created significant "ah ha" moments for society. These events caused a shift of perspective on a grand scale and created a psychic moment for us all. As some refused to broaden their points of view, conflict was created. Eventually, the new consciousness was accepted for the vast majority and our society moved forward.
The anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" speech by Martin Luther King, Jr., and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy are in the news this year because each of them occurred fifty years ago. The fiftieth anniversary is special because it is an indication that an event or decision had a lasting impact. These events created a moment of clarity for our society, bringing a change in perspective. They caused us to rethink our values and adapt to the needs of an evolving world. Intuition is the psychic gift that allows us to "just know" when something is correct or terribly wrong.
The "I Have a Dream" speech moved millions to action to create a better society, and the imprint of the speech remains with us today. It changed perspectives and attitudes for the better. In contrast, the decision, by one man, to take the life of a president of the United States stays with us as a reminder that our spirit can be shaken and our joy stolen from us by one act of violence. Each of these events changed our society forever because we "just knew" our world needed to adjust and move to a different state of consciousness. Psychic ability and working with spirit can help us when we know we need to make changes in our personal life as well.
We are entering into the time of year when we reflect and remember the past. It is during this time that we recall those who have gone before us, and the impact they had on us. Martin Luther King, Jr. and President John F. Kennedy were ahead of their time because they saw our society needed to be changed. Both men ultimately paid for pushing their visions of a better society with their lives. Can you remember a time when you had a change of perspective that ultimately changed your life?
