Who knew Spring could be so busy!
After a whirlwind of state staffing conferences, COATS attended the ASA Staffing Law Conference in Washington, DC. We learned even more about EEOC, ACA, NLRB, etc. and will be sharing it with you in blog posts in the coming weeks.
The top two takeaways to discuss with your staff NOW:
- EEOC's guidance on background checks and any bright-line rules that may be a barrier to hire; i.e. "We don't hire felons"
- Affordable Care Act and accounting for your FTEs (full-time equivalents) and if you are going to PAY or PLAY
Soon you will see a new look for COATS! We are rebranding in anticipation of our COATS Visual product. We continue to program towards COATS Visual and hope for a soft release in October. We are quite excited about the possibilities and welcome any and all suggestions.
As always, thank you for being our COATS clients and partners in this awesome staffing world!

COATS Cares: Team Members Helping the Community
Karen Connor, our VP of Business Development, serves on the Board of Directors of the Roc Solid Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides hope for children with pediatric cancer. Through play-set builds, ready bags, room remodels and more, the Roc Solid Foundation offers a light during a child's hardest fight in their life. This past month, Roc Solid held a Night for the Fight fundraiser. Karen's the second from the left and her sister Lynn Connor is the second from the right. Interested in bringing Roc Solid to your area? Visit their website.
Jessica Barber, keeper of the manual and other documents, gave a very personal resource to Locks of Love: her hair. (Kind of fitting with the last name Barber, eh?) Locks of Love serves financially disadvantaged children with long-term medical hair loss by creating beautiful hairpieces from donated hair like Jessica's. If you're thinking about going short for the summer, consider donating your hair to them.

Join Us on Social Media!
No matter what platform you like to use, chances are you can find COATS there.
Our Facebook page is a great place to see pictures from our office, "Did-You-Know" videos on how to use COATS, updates from our blog and general cheer from Karen.
We created the COATS Users Group on LinkedIn to discuss the software with us and with each other so we can all get more out of it. This is a members-only group, so you don't have to worry about anyone wandering in and spamming us. Unfortunately, that means you do have to apply for membership, but we promise you'll get in; all you have to be is a COATS user.
We're also on Pinterest, where we have boards on staffing, gadgetry, the Roc Solid Foundation, B2B marketing and other topics you might be interested in.
We even have a page on Google+ for everyone who's on that site, with posts from our blog and links to other cool articles on staffing. We're starting to look into forming "circles" of staffing folks, so feel free to add us to your circles.
