September: it's back to school, back to schedules and planning for end-of-the-year holidays! We're ending the third quarter and starting in on Q4 already--where has the time gone?
 
We will soon be releasing Version 4.3.6 with many helpful statisical reports, so keep your eye out at the end of this month. We're also adding the Employee Portal, a way for employees to log in and review their accounts; let me know if you are interested.
 
We look at social media this month, as it applies to candidates and to recruiters. If you're already active on social media, we'd love to see you there. To help us connect and communicate with you, we've added a Pinterest area and Google+ account; and don't forget about Facebook and Linked IN - we are still there too with a LOT of informaton- check us out! 

 

Speaking of communicating: you use COATS regularly, which makes you something of an expert on it. Well, now knowledge isn't just its own reward; your knowledge could win you money! Now that you know how to use social media for prospecting and marketing to clients, let's look at candidates. Social media can help you attract more and better candidates, help existing candidates improve and help keep your candidates happy.
 
Interviewing & Recruiting: Social Media for Recruiters
"Oh, no. Another post about social media. Yup, I already know about how to use LinkedIn for recruiting and how to search a candidate's social media profiles. Bor-ing." Don't worry. This post won't rehash any of that territory because it's about social media outlets just for recruiters.
 
Legal Roundup: August 2012 
This month's roundup of news in employment law covers all sorts of ground:
  • A U.S. House bill that would make it illegal to ask job applicants if they've been convicted of a crime prior to making an offer of employment (or in cases where a high level of security is expected)
  • Fun with FMLA lawsuits

We've also established a page on Google+ for everyone who's on that site. We're posting mostly the same content as on our "Staffing Stuff" Pinterest board. But we must admit, it's a little lonely there right now. If you're on Google+, please let us know and we'll try to form a little staffing outpost on it. :-)
