Looking Forward: October Guide

Attached is an activity guide for October! You will find a list of all the awareness days, weeks, and months, along with tools and resources to optimize the efforts of your SADD chapter.

October is the chance to tackle many important issues. Among them are drug-use and distracted and reckless driving. We've included some amazing contest opportunities in the body of this newsletter, so make sure to check out those as well!

Advisor Survey Coming Soon!
 Chance to win BIG!!

Advisors, please be looking out for the Advisor Survey, which we will be sending out very soon. This is an important evaluation tool that ultimately allows us to improve as an organization, so thank you in advance for filling it out! We look forward to getting feedback from all of you! All those who participate in our Advisor Survey will be entered into a drawing to win a presentation for your school. One lucky Advisor will win a presentation from The Media Guy, a $600 value, at no cost!! Students love this huge "three screen" multi-media presentation, and it's our way of saying thank you!
It Can Wait

AT&T's "It Can Wait Day" is here! Hopefully you have big plans to celebrate this worthy cause. Please send us any photos of events that your chapter participated in. We'd love to showcase them in our next newsletter!

@UrTurn Contest
HURRY! The first 50 teams to submit proposals will receive $100 seed money and supply kit,
which will include items such as chalk, bandannas, a banner, press release templates and other materials you can use in your campaign

SADD has teamed up with The National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF) to hear what you're doing to make a difference in road safety. To participate in the @UrTurn contest, plan a campaign about driving proficiency that includes three elements: school activities, community involvement, and media awareness! Pick a topic or two in driving proficiency that really impacts you, your friends, or your community, and then let your creative flow while you shine your headlights on this issue through your campaign!

Submit your campaign proposal to SADD National, to April Cabera ([email protected]) by Wednesday, October 16, 2013.

After that, take the campaign for a test drive in your school, and then send in an activity report by Wednesday, February 26, 2014 for a chance to win a great prize!

Grand Prize: $2,500 for your chapter
Second Place: $1,500 for your chapter
Third Place: $500 for your chapter

October 17th is the last day to register your high school to participate in Celebrate My Drive!

  • Log onto www.celebratemydrive.com to register your school (note: you can fill out the registration form for your administrator, but they need to be aware you are registering).
  • Select a date between October 18-26 to hold a local teen safe driving event (book Illinois SADD to come to your school for your event.  We still have some of these dates available!).
