Hello Friends of Parlando,   

 

Our mission to be "Colorado's premier arts school where people of all ages and abilities come together to share the language of music and the arts" is supported by four pillars: Education, Assistance, Outreach and Performance.  Below you will find important announcements and updates in each of these four areas. 

Please note that our offices will be closed 11/16 through 11/25.  Group classes are not scheduled for 11/19 through 11/23.  Please contact your private instructor to confirm whether or not an extra or makeup lesson will be scheduled between 11/19 and 11/23.

 

 

Education

Assistance
We have extended the deadline for Tuition Assistance applications by one week.  If you are interested, please contact me on or before Friday November 9th for more information.

Outreach
We have begun a new collaboration with Boulder Preparatory High School.  Boulder Prep students are now coming to Parlando two times a week to participate in group piano classes. This is an important new program designed to bring music into the lives of students who otherwise would not be able to participate in music education.  We have received funding from the Boulder Arts Commission to expand this program in early 2013.  If you would like to find out more about this program and how YOU can help expand it, please contact me!

Performance
As you may have heard or seen, our 2013 Staged Musical is "Annie."  We are excited to once again offer a comprehensive and inclusive performance experience to Parlando and non-Parlando students in our home at the Dairy Center.  We will be sending out more specific dates and requirements soon but, for now, here is some general information:

Directed by: Gene Roberts
Music Direction by: Toby Tenenbaum
Stage Manager and Costume Director: Kristin Van Sickle
Auditions: Late January/Early February 2013
Rehearsals: March - June 2013
Performances: June 5-9 2013 in the Dairy Center's East Theatre
Grades: 3-12 (including both Parlando and non-Parlando students)

NOTE: Because all four of our 2012 shows of "Oliver!" sold out two weeks in advance, we will be offering six performances of "Annie" in 2013.
