Jill's House Families: Meet the McNeils
"We are grieving, but thanks to you and Jill's House, our children know only unconditional love."

Watch their moving story.

"Almost six years ago, my husband Matt and I were told our two beautiful children were going to die," said Shannon McNeil, mother of Waverly, 10, and Oliver, 7. "Since then we have done everything in our power to make sure they know they are loved and celebrated. Matt and I cherish each and every moment, and we are exhausted physically, emotionally, and relationally."

Lift up families like the McNeils when you Sponsor a Child for a Night.

"Sitting in a neurology consultation room at Children's Hospital, we were given the answer to why our four-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Waverly, was no longer progressing developmentally. She had a very rare genetic condition. Within four weeks we were hit again with the news that our 15-month-old son, Oliver, had the same disease. The lifespan of someone with Sanfilippo syndrome is 12 to 18 years. All of the milestones they would achieve would slowly be undone until their bodies succumb to the disease. Read more.

typicalsibsCelebrating Typical Siblings
A special night at Jill's House for brothers and sisters of special children.
Typical siblings of children with special needs can experience isolation, added stress, and less time with their parents. Families we serve have expressed the need for support on how to address these concerns.
Typical siblings experienced Jill's House fun and made new friends.
On Sunday, March 23, Jill's House celebrated many of the brothers and sisters of the children we serve with a pizza party, and time to explore Jill's House.
While the children enjoyed the moon bounce, music room, and arts and crafts, we treated their parents to a dinner and presentation by Wanda Vander Nat, a school psychologist and friend of Jill's House.
avenelJust Announced! 2014 Golf Tournament at TPC Potomac
Championship golf course site for 2014 Links for Little Ones.

Golf with Jill's House at Avenel and lift up families.

The 2014 Links for Little Ones golf tournament scheduled for Monday, October 13, will be held at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Potomac, Maryland. This championship golf course has been a familiar stop on the PGA tour for many years and is one of the top private golf courses in the area.

Links for Little Ones includes lunch, awards ceremony and reception, and raises much-needed revenue for Jill's House, enabling us to serve more children and help keep marriages together. You can register to play as an individual or as a foursome. We also have corporate sponsorships available, and can always use someone who loves golf and Jill's House to serve on our committee.

Volunteer spotlight: The Burgetts
Join Nancy and Scott and serve at Jill's House!
When they aren't busy with their professional careers, Nancy and Scott Burgett love being together. They enjoy traveling, walking their dog, and spending time with their three married children and two grandsons. Nancy and Scott even volunteer together at Jill's House on a regular basis.

"We discovered Jill's House when we were looking for ways to serve God," explained Scott. "We heard about volunteering at Jill's House while attending a service at McLean Bible Church, and we knew this was the perfect opportunity for us."

"When we serve, Nancy and I help provide supervision while the children are swimming, which is one of their favorite things to do. We try to make each pool experience a special one for each and every child through swimming together, playing with pool toys, singing, or simply having a quiet, peaceful float. You can feel God's presence, and it's especially rewarding to see the children who can't walk still enjoy the experience thanks to adaptive devices and caring lifeguards and helpers.

"It is such a joy to see the fun the children have. The only hard part is convincing them when it's time to get out of the pool! Our experience at Jill's House confirmed what we were told in the church service, that we would receive immeasurably more than we give. And we do."

raceacrossamericaTwo-Man Bicycle Team Races Across America for Jill's House
3,000-mile ride to raise $50,000 to support Jill's House families.

Andy Felschow and Gino Elsea have come together with two common passions: bicycle racing and supporting Jill's House children and families. On June 14 they will embark on a 3,000-mile Race Across America with hopes of raising more than $50,000 for Jill's House!

Andy, left, and Gino share a love for racing and for Jill's House. Send them a word of encouragement or support their efforts today!

"I visited the Jill's House Open House," said Gino, "and knew I had to do something to support these families. They face challenges that many of us will never know."

"Riding 3,000 miles may sound difficult, but in just over a week it will end for Andy and me. For the families Jill's House serves, the exhaustion and stress is ongoing. Andy and I hope we can raise enough money to provide some relief to these remarkable families."

Race Across America, one of the most respected and longest running endurance sporting events in the world, starts in Oceanside, California and ends in Annapolis, Maryland. The two-person team will cross 12 states and climb over 170,000 vertical feet.

Please support Team Jill's House's goal of raising more than $50,000 for Jill's House with a donation and word of encouragement at teamjillshouse.com. The team is also looking for someone to provide an RV for the race, and still needs three volunteers to act as crew members! For more information email teamjillshouse@gmail.com.

If you also have ideas about how to help raise funds for Jill's House, please contact Teresa Lee at events@jillshouse.org or 703.639.5670.

What Familes Are Saying

"My husband was recently diagnosed with late stage Leukemia. While our child was at Jill's House, I was able to sit by my husband's side at the hospital, all weekend long, and focus 100% on him. What a blessing that time was to our family. Thank you!"
