Contribute to a Great Cause!

For the holidays, we will be selling sweaters for $10 to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank. Students can pay for a ticket to pre-order their sweatshirt by November 13th, so they can attend our Ugly Sweater Decorating party.

Sponsor a Shabbat Dinner

Shabbat is the cornerstone of Hillel's Jewish programming; you can help by sponsoring a shabbat dinner either by cooking or funding one. Cost is usually between $150-$300, depending on menu. If you're interested, please contact our Assistant Director, Shifra Elman at [email protected]

Mentor a Student

We are looking for members of the community to help mentor our students - in career advice, for tutoring, and other fields. If you have networking opportunities; or are skilled in math, science, programming, engineering, writing, creating cover letters, or building resumes, please contact Shifra at [email protected]

Educational Trips
Join the LGBTQ Mission to Israel!

The Jewish Community Federation invites you to go on a Bay Area trip to Israel from May 26-June 2, 2016. Highlights of the trip will include spending nights in Jerusalem, Kibbutz Kfar Blum, and Tel Aviv; and will include meeting with Israel's top LGBTQ polititians, business leaders, and innovators and learn what is being done to advance the rights of the LGBTQ community.

Nov. 6: Awake and Sing at Santa Clara University @7pm

The Theatre and Dance Dept. at  Santa Clara University is very excited to announce the opening of Clifford Odets' 
Awake and Sing! directed by guest director Scott Kaiser from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. This play revolves around a multi-generational Jewish family in the Bronx struggling with a multitude of issues during the Great Depression of the 1930s.
 
In order to celebrate the issues addressed in Awake and Sing!, as compelling today as they were at the time Odets wrote it, the Theatre and Dance department will be hosting a pre-show reception at 7 pm on opening night Friday Nov. 6, in the Mayer Theatre lobby

Empowering Your Hidden Genius

During this deeply insightful yet entertaining talk, speaker and author Dan Silvert will provide powerful approaches to improving communication and connection with the relationships that matter most in both your professional and personal lives. The talk will be held Tuesday,

Perform a Holiday Mitzvah! Donate Coats and Blankets

Hillel of Silicon Valley will be one of several drop-off locations for this year's coat and blanket drive on behalf of the Jewish Federation's Community Relations Council and our Jewish community. Last year the blankets were donated to HomeFirst for distribution and the coats were given to Grace Baptist Church.

-Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival E-Newsletter Editor

Seeking individual with a good sense of marketing/public relations to manage the e-newsletter sent to more than 4,000 families throughout the Silicon Valley, north to San Francisco. This is a contract position to develop weekly newsletters until October and at least two newsletters a week during the Festival, October 10-November 8.

We use the Constant Contact e-newsletter creation software and you will be trained and supervised by the SVJFF Board member who is familiar with the program. This is a great opportunity for a marketing/public relations/journalism student who wants real-world experience communicating with a large loyal audience. Necessary skills: Writing, editing. 

Contract rate: $850 through November 8. $50 per newsletter after that.

Congregation Kol Emeth: Seeking expirienced, energetic, creative, flexible, fun-loving Jewish educators. Positions are available on Tuesday afternoons, Saturday mornings, and Sunday mornings. Temple Emanu-El: Temple Emanu-El invited energetic, highly motivated and experienced applicants to join the quality teaching team in our innovative Reform synagogue environment to teach 3rd grade on Sunday mornings. Candidates should be able to teach Hebrew and/or Judaic subjects (holidays, Jewish values, bible, Israel) and have experience working with students in either a classroom and/or camp setting.

Part-Time Job Offer

Congregation Kol Emeth in Palo Alto is looking for a part-time coordinator to help with some administrative functions around a large capital campaign for a new synagogue. 
Requirements:
* Strong skills with Google Docs and MS Excel
* Extremely strong organizational skills
* Excellent verbal and written skills
* Fundraising experience desired
* BA degree preferred
* Must be highly confidential with the utmost discretion in this position

Looking for help taking care of an elderly lady on Sundays during the hours of 8:00am -8:00pm in Saratoga. The job mainly consists of being a companion, heating up food and lots of patience, kindness and warmth. This job will begin November 8th and end on December 18th. There may be additional opportunities to work some hours during the week. Please have two references and a lot of respect and patience for the elderly!
