4) Calling all Artists and Creative Types!
Interested in traveling to Israel this December to take part in creating a major arts and culture festival?
This December, the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, ROI Community, Hillel International, Ayalim Student Association and local residents will come together to showcase the exceptional strength, resilience and creativity of Israel's southern communities. Between December 22nd and January 1st, we will bring a delegation of student artists to southern Israel to create an art festival, in collaboration with other Jewish students and colleagues from around the world. As a way to show our support in southern Israel after a difficult summer (not to mention the past decade), this is a way for students, from Hillels as far south as Uruguay, as far north as Russia, as far west as California, and as far east as Israel, to come together and create an amazingly powerful project!
Did I mention, this opportunity is 100% free for students?
There is no stipulation regarding previous time spent in Israel, though priority will be given to those who have visited before, and there is no stipulation regarding what kind of art the student does. We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated artists to create what will be a deeply meaningful experience for all involved. As there are only 60 spots for North American students, there will be an online application, and supplemental phone screening for selected applicants. Priority will be given to early applications.Please find a one-page flyer and sample recruitment emails attached!
Program Highlights include:
- An all-expenses-paid trip to Israel;
- Collaboration with local artists, activists, and Hillel staff to create a large-scale festival celebrating the beauty and culture of Israel's south;
- A jam-packed trip with wonderful opportunities to meet, learn, and volunteer with a variety of Israeli artists, and to further one's understanding of the cultural riches in Israeli society;
- A global gathering, with students participating from Hillels from around the world, including a unique Shabbat experience, Limmud-style peer learning, and an opportunity for participants to connect with and learn from Israeli peers.
Please apply by Friday, November 7th for this unique and truly special opportunity! Click HERE for the application.
Should you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to reach out to Arya Marvazy (amarvazy@hillel.org).
