"Good morning! I'm grateful to have you in my life. Our time each morning reminds me daily of how important relationships are over anything that may attempt to pull them a part. Life would hold no meaning if you were not a part of mine. I hope this is mutual.
In all the years of being a traveler in this world, I've come to realize that most if not all let downs in life are due to broken relationships. There is something wrong with us when we can't get passed our own emotions within any relationship that has been stretched, pulled on, or even when we have been betrayed when we are believers in Christ..
Remember no one here on earth is perfect, and all of us at times contribute to these strains that we experience within our relationships. It's true that in times we are all hurt, despised and possibly even hated; but with the insight of being a child of God we have the capacity to forgive even when we have been wronged.
When we refuse to respond by this divine capacity given and shown to us by God, we have closed ourselves off from God's forgiveness in our own lives. This is why so many carry these wounds even as a Christian throughout life never getting resolve in their own heart. You can see it as you listen to them talk once that wounded button has been pushed.
Many times we think forgiveness is something the other person receives; but fail to see how it frees us as well. Because there is a selfish tendency that we all have to deal with, this is why forgiving seems so hard; it's because you are giving when it feels more right to be receiving for what they did to us.
Pain is in the heart of most people you meet because of broken relationships of some sort. Being human in a world of fragmented people is a recipe for real challenges relationally. But we are commanded to love unconditionally just as Christ loves us. There is no getting around this, forgiveness is the proof of real love.
We must learn the ways of Christ Jesus in order to know how to really thrive in all relationships without holding anyone captive emotionally because they may have failed us or even deliberately hurt us. Love holds no record of what others might have done to us.
People without Christ don't understand this, therefore, you can expect it on occasion from them. But we as believers and followers of Christ, we have no excuse, we are endowed with the Lord's character within, if He in fact lives in us. Therefore, forgiveness is doable for us who understand it.
If Jesus dwells in your life and you are still failing in relationships, then you need to spend more time with His teachings so that you may learn how He endured mocking, spitting, railings, cussing, tortures of all sorts, and even the final suffering of the cross, and could still love the very ones who did this to Him." ~Dad~
Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. (Proverbs 17:9 NLT) |
