Daily Words From Dad

"Good morning! The Bible tells us there is safety in the multitude of counselors. Getting wise counsel in time of great decisions is a smart thing to do. In fact, I highly recommend it. Unfortunately though, many are they who ignore these assets around them in favor of their own pride that refuses to seek help, but their own. The outcome is usually sad to watch.

There is another part of this that we often miss. It's when we know the right thing to do, but we will seek someone's counsel in hopes that they will give us another alternative to what we already know needs to be done. It's like someone once said: Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't.

The conclusion of the matter is getting wise counsel is a wise thing to do. But just as equally important is when you know the right thing to be done, don't search for someone to tell you something different from what you already know is right. There have been too many times I have witnessed those around me who delayed doing what they knew needed to be done.

They simply did this because they wanted to listen to some ignorant and unpractical advice that told them to ignore doing the right thing and save their own hide. However, doing the right thing even when it hurts you is always the right thing to do. Always! God looks on the integrity of a persons heart, and if it is found there, He causes any discomfort you may be experiencing for being upright in your actions, to be instantly diminished as He pours out a blessing on your life.

I pray you will always seek to be righteous in all that you do. Righteousness can truly only be discovered in the pages of the Bible that gives us a clear picture of what it looks like as we see it in Jesus' life. Living a selfless life is rarely seen, but Christ demonstrated it so that we could recognize it when it was present. I hope you will develop it in your life. Get wisdom from Godly advice, then go do it. And if you already know what needs to be done, don't look for that person to talk you out of it." ~Dad~
