We are not in a competition, we are part of a divine family, and this means that as important as it is for you to finish, it is equally important for each member to cross the finish line as well. Only here is real victory achieved.
Therefore, trying to out sing someone else, or preach better than the other guy, or do better things than the other person for self glory, is a contradiction to the way of a Christian. We are connected with others, and there can be no real celebration until we have all broke through the winners tape.
