Daily Words From Dad

"Good morning! Are you aware that few people ever arrive to a place of contentment throughout their life with any consistency? Therefore, I want to talk about this in our time together this morning. Someone wrote these words and I think they say it best: When you can think of yesterday without regret and tomorrow without fear, you are near contentment.

Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but the realization of how much you already have. In the words of Lin Yn-tang, The secret of contentment is knowing how to enjoy what you have, and to be able to lose all desire for things beyond your reach. Contentment is enjoying everything that God has blessed your life with and never once regretting or taking those things for granted.

Another quote by a Bertrand Russell offers us some good advice as well: The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles or real estate, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith.

If we can be happy with what we have and who we are, and be generous with both, we will never have to look for happiness. When we cannot find contentment within ourselves, it is really pointless to seek it anywhere else. In fact, if you are content, you will actually have enough to live very comfortably right where you are." ~Dad~

" I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." ~Philippians 4:11~
