"Good morning! I pray your sleep was sweet and peaceful. The person that sleeps through the night peacefully is a person who has freed their mind from being badgered by a bad conscience by making things right where they have done wrong. Someone said a conscience is like a baby, it has to go to sleep before you can.
In fact, a bad conscience is the dog that can't bite, but I assure you he never stops barking. Whereas, a clear conscience is a soft pillow for your head. As you can see our conscience is the replay of things you have done throughout the days you have lived. When those things you've done are hurtful to someone else, then even if you get away with it or not you will never get away from the person who did the wrong, that's because it's you and no one has ever out ran themselves.
There is an old Chinese Proverb that says, he who sacrifices his conscience to selfish ambition at the expense of another burns the prize to obtain the ashes. In the depths of every heart, there is a tomb and a dungeon, though the lights, the music, and revelry above may cause us to forget their existence for a moment, yet sometimes, and often times at midnight, those dark receptacles are flung wide open and the party ends.
A bad conscience is that inner voice which is always screaming that someone may be looking at what you did wrong. I believe that if our nagging conscience from doing wrong is without God, it is the same as being summoned to court to be tried without a judge to pardon. All we can look forward to is a jury with no heart, but demands only justice without pardon for the crime that's been done.
There is nothing more tormenting than a bad conscience and so many live with them. God's remedy for this is that we seek forgiveness. Otherwise, the torment remains, but oh how it's multiplied. I've heard someone say that a bad conscience is a mother-in-law whose visit never ends. Well, maybe if you have a tormenting mother-in-law.
If you are milling over and over things in your conscience that you have done that you know is not right, then seek to rectify them quickly. To ignore this is to linger through each night tossing and turning wishing you had not done the harm to that other person or yourself. I pray you will always live a life that quickly forgives others and a willingness to seek forgiveness if you have done wrong to another. The person who does, will sleep sweetly through the night, otherwise, life is going to be draining from getting little sleep." ~Dad~ |
