"Good morning! Several months ago I planted some Sunflower seeds for my granddaughter. These are the kind that get very large in size. What I like about these flowers, and the reason I bring this up is because of the unique way they turn whichever the sun goes.
I was thinking about this and it made me think of how important it is that we follow Jesus whichever way He shines our path before us. That means keeping your eyes and thoughts on His purposes for your life.
Following Christ is not just going to a local church or throwing some money in an offering plate for its support; no, where I do believe those are important things, that doesn't equate to following Christ. Following requires an undistracted commitment to The Lord every day.
We each have a personal call that only we can fulfill, and that will require that you turn when He turns, go when He goes, and stop when He stops. That's what following Christ means. It's not a once a week gathering of the saints, but a daily walk with Him under His directives to what He wants you to do.
Today we use the title Christian as a way of identifying the saints of God, problem with this, is that doesn't mean they are a Christian. Titles don't validate anything, but following proves everything. The proof of a Christian is in the doing and in the being; not the saying.
So, if the sunflower draws its strength from the sun, then there is a lesson in that for us, we too ought to realize our strength comes from the Son of God. Therefore, if the Son is shining in one direction are you facing His brightness, or are you facing the other stuff around you? Here is my final question, are you a Christian or a follower of Christ. There is a vast difference!" ~Dad~ |
