Daily Words From Dad

"Good morning! Did you know that you are going to live by the things you believe in? That might not seem like a big deal to you, but what if you have many things you believe in and they are not actually the truth. Their truth is only that you believe they are true. Does this make them true then? This is the dilemma that we all face, because we were all raised in a world with its own set of laws and physics that seem like a truth because we have practiced them our whole life. But does this make them truth? I want to address belief this morning because of its enormous ramifications in our lives; and let's see if we don't spend a great deal of our time believing in things that aren't really the truth.

The Bible teaches everything is possible for them who believe. This is such a huge statement for those who live with limited thinking, at least we do in some areas. For instance, someone sitting on a camel over two thousand years ago and looking up to the sky and declaring he was going to make a craft that could fly people around the world would have been laughed to scorn by all the other camel riders for such a crazy idea. Why? Because conventional belief about something that's never been done before is deemed impossible and thereby man doesn't step out beyond those perimeters that have always been. Mike Murdock said something that we can use here, 'What you hear repeatedly you will eventually believe.' I would add that what you have always done will do the same. Therefore, every person is the creation of himself, the image of his own thinking and believing. As individuals think and believe, so they are. This is what the Bible says, As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

In other words, beware of assumptions! Whatever you "assume" to be possible -- or impossible will have a tendency to become real for you. The very act of believing something creates a strength of its own. Therefore, you need to be careful what you believe. The Bible is the only book that is 100% truth, and yet it is considered by many as a book of fables or unbelievable stories, and many of these are believers in Christianity who believe for its salvation but not its many other promises. Why? Because these promises go against traditional thinking of what's considered normal. If you don't have solid beliefs that are the truth, you cannot build a stable life on truth. Beliefs are like the foundation of a building, and they are the foundation to build your life upon. It is easier to doubt than to believe. And to doubt God's Word when it speaks of healing when the illness is terminal is generally what people tend to believe.

Believing is what we all do, but how we believe is based on the things we place our trust or faith in. If you're raised that anything thrown in the air always comes down, then you would have never been the candidate to believe that some day man could fly. Those who say it can't be done are usually interrupted by others who are doing it. I want you to be careful with the words, 'It can't be done.' Those words have robbed many people from having what actually was very possible. It was their belief that set this perimeter around them, not because it has never been done before or that it was not possible. Miracles are not miracles in God's kingdom because they always exist and are considered normal. For people who say they believe in God, but then doubt much of what His Word says, call it a miracle whenever something manifests miraculously. It's strange to them because its not normal to what we are used to seeing. I will close with something Franklin D. Roosevelt said, 'The barrier between success is not something which exists in the real world: it is composed purely and simply of doubts about ability.' If we ever believe its impossible, then it will remain impossible. My advice to you today, believe extravagantly!" ~Dad~
