Ah choo, sniffle, sniffle, cough, cough, my body aches all over. Our first newsletter of the year usually features the newest products from the PPAI trade show in Las Vegas. This year MCM is on the side line with the flu. Guess the flu shot didn't work.
When we cancelled our flights and hotel, the reservationists told us about the record number of cancellations and that the nightly news is calling this year's flu, "flu- mageddon". There are still several months left in our flu season so how about looking at some flu prevention and flu relief products for your next trade show or as employee gifts?
Other than walking around with a creepy surgical mask and rubber gloves, there are a number of smart promotional items that can help lessen the spread of the flu. They fall into two categories - prevention and therapeutic.
Prevention- For trade shows, around the office, home and the market, nothing beats hand sanitizers. They come in spray, gel and lotion. The decision to select one or the other is really a matter of preference. Our own experience leads us to liking the spray more than the others mainly due to convenience.
Having a spray bottle hand sanitizer attached to a key ring is very practical. Just think of how many hands touched that gas pump before you did. They are also nice to have on your desk, hand bag or around the house.
The bigger decision is alcohol or non-alcohol. The Center for Disease and Control (CDC) recommends soap and water hand washing, followed by alcohol based sanitizers and then non-alcohol, sanitizers. Note that the CDC does not recommend non-alcohol sanitizers in "healthcare settings". That said, the non-alcohol are easier on the hands and the gel/ lotion types feel better on the skin.
Therapeutic - The sanitizers are your first line of defense but what happens when you are on the road or at a show and you begin to feel like you getting ill. It is pretty difficult to pack your entire medicine cabinet but there are ways to have an emergency kit with you at all times.
