Jumbo Shrimp

Dear  ,

Jumbo Shrimp

         Jumbo shrimp marketing

Jumbo Shrimp is one of the most descriptive oxymorons but many people think that High End Promotional Products runs a close second.

The general perception of promotional products is that they are usually cheap and not well made. This really hit home when we received a copy of an invoice that a client faxed to us that showed their accounting department had coded it for payment as "Account 3600 - Trinkets and Trash". Ouch, that hurt.

A few months ago we began to publish a number of pages on our web site using High End Promotional Products as an SEO strategy. Within weeks Google began sending us a healthy amount of traffic. It validated to us that a portion of the market is looking for promotional items that are more expensive and that convey a more sophisticated image.

We cannot dismiss the low end price points of the market. It serves an important mission in branding over a large audience. However when your audience is small and your goal is to reward or honor, it's time to bring out the big guns. Our little secret with high end products is to select items that the average person always thinks about having but cannot rationalize the expense. Maybe an easier way to state this is make your promotional product a personal indulgence.

Our most proven high end promotional products are.

The options are vast but we do encourage that there be a strong connection between your theme and the recipient. Check out our page High End Promotional Items that includes a simple 6 point questionnaire to help you narrow down your options. It also contains additional suggestions in high end product categories.

Gel Cell Phone Desk Blocks are Hot!

First, I need to disclose that I just got a new cell phone. I was encouraged by the sales person to purchase a cover. Wait a second, didn't I choose the really cool "Pebble Blue" color? No thanks, I'll pass,  I really want to admire the beauty of its finish. When I got back to the office I had the feeling of bringing home a Barbie Doll with no accessories.

The first piece of mail I opened contained this gel material block with a logo on it. Voila, a desk top cell phone stand magically appeared at the right time. Must have been some form of cosmic intervention but also good timing to test out a new product.

So far, so good, as I have not lost my phone on my desk. The gel block keeps my new phone in a prominent and easy to grab location. The gel is grippy enough to hold the phone off the desk so that the charger connector can stay plugged in and it is secure enough to tap or swype on. It's even easier if you use a smartphone pen.

From a more scientific marketing perspective, cell phone accessories are just plain smart. They have replaced ubiquitous products like the refrigerator magnet. In North America, unless you are marketing to infants or tweeners, virtually everyone has a cell phone. What a perfect place to display your brand or logo.

In addition to these products receiving the greatest web traffic, the deal on the Smart Phone Pens is incredible. It would have been in What's Hot except that my new cell phone's desk holder won the coin toss. These Smart Phone Pens make a perfect giveaway particularly with the holidays around the corner.

Time to Run

Through the power of technology I was able to take a two week trip to the Middle East that encompassed Greece, Cyprus, Israel and Turkey. What a remarkable opportunity to see cultures that are thousands of years old and walk through sites that are so filled with history.

In some respects it was a busman's holiday as I always am looking at how branding plays its role and I kept in touch with my clients. Perhaps nothing was more dramatic than the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul where over 4,000 shops are housed under one roof. Our attraction for owning new and unusual things dates back to at least the 4th century.

You could purchase everything from exotic spices and religious apparel to a Red Sox cap. The power of branding is remarkable. Between 250,000 to 400,000 people visit the Grand bazaar each day. That's more traffic than Amazon.com the 7th most visited web site in the world.

Pretty powerful stuff.

Thanks for taking the time to catch up with us.

Sincerely,
