M&R Liquor

A recognized and respected name in the Amarillo area for the last 20 years, M&R Liquor was purchased by Charles Leard in 2012. An industry pro who has 16 years of experience with Budweiser, Charles knows the business and M&R better than most. He recognizes that low prices and friendly, knowledgeable staff are what sets M&R apart from others and he has no plans to change that!

When the original owner decided that it was time to retire, he knew he needed to find someone to take over who would respect the business' loyal customers and employees while keeping prices low and he approached Charles with an offer to sell. Although he was still employed with Budweiser at the time, Charles crunched the numbers with Assistant Director, David Dickerson and knew it was time to take the leap into business ownership. The two were able to value the business, Charles secured financing and business has been so great that he's currently working on his plans for a second location.

Offering a full selection of wine, beer and liquor, M&R has won Best of Amarillo's Spirits category 10 years in a row! They offer tastings on Fridays and Saturdays and the knowledgeable staff can help you choose the right spirits for you whether you're looking to match a wine with Valentine's dinner for two or mix cocktails for 20.

We didn't leave empty handed after visiting Charles. If you follow us on Facebook, be sure to watch on Monday for pictures and a review of Honey BBQ Chicken Wings made with Bärenjäger Honey Liqueur!

Did you know...
One of the last requests of entrepreneur and Frisbee inventor, Ed "Steady Herrick, was to have his ashes mixed with a special batch of plastic that would be made into Frisbees.

Modern day Frisbees began with a 5¢ tin cake pan that Herrick tossed about on a beach. A fellow beachgoer offered to pay him 25¢ for the pan and that was the birth of many years of development that would lead to the Frisbee as we now know it. Now known as "The Father of Disk Golf," the commemorative Frisbees containing Herrick's ashes are still available for purchase for the small sum of $200. We're going to stick with a 100% plastic Frisbee, but it's good to know we have options.
