LOOK OUT ... THE KIDS WERE IN CHARGE!
Kyra Berger, Clara Lapidus and Susan Biedinger enjoy Purim!
Purim had a twist this year .... the kids were in charge!  Our very confident and competent Upper School students planned and led an incredibly fun Purim carnival for the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School students and the LJCC ECLC Ilanot class. Students and staff arrived in creative costumes, celebrated a rockin' musical tefillah and participated in a carnival that included: fishing in the Red Sea, Dance around Persia, Haman's Jail, Mordechai's bowling, Beauty contest face painting, Haman sponge throw and making home-made hamentashen and shalach manot bags.

NOT PAWNS IN THIS GAME!

Our N.E. Miles Jewish Day School Chess Team headed to the Alabama Scholastic State Chess Championship games under the guidance of Dr. Brooks of The Knight School.  More than 700 games were played in individual and team competitions.  The N.E. Miles Jewish Day School chess team played hard and smart.  We are incredibly proud to announce that the NEMJDS Chess Team tied for second in the State in Elementary School Division!

ENVIRONMENT WITH A JEWISH TWIST

Jewish education through experiential learning at Camp Rama Darom.  NEMJDS 5th and 6th grade students had the opportunity to study with the TEVA group and learn about the ecology and food sustainability.  Students hiked, sang and studied together for three days, creating a strong sense of community and commitment to tikun olam (repairing the world). A special thank you to the chaperons:  Melina Goldfarb, Hilton Berger and Annette Troxell.
