ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

We are excited to celebrate the incredible academic accomplishments of our current students and our alumni.

Ellen Landy, 5th grade, is our Day Spelling Bee Champ! She won the Spelling Bee at NEMJDS
Ellen Landy Spelling Bee Champ!
and moved on to compete in the Birmingham City Schools District Spelling Bee.  Ellen competed with incredible confidence and placed 2nd.  With only 12 hours notice, Ellen competed this morning in the Jefferson County Spelling Bee - against all the spelling bee winners from each district in Jefferson County.  Ellen placed 4th overall!  We are incredibly proud of Ellen and thank her for doing such a good job representing the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School!

Students who leave the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School continue to demonstrate their excellence in academics.

Jessica Azrin, NEMJDS alum, has been chosen as a National Merit Semifinalist in her senior year of Mountain Brook High School.  Students who compete in the National Merit competition take the PSAT test in their junior year. Students who score in the top 1 - 1.5% are named semifinalists.

Seth Perlman, NEMJDS alum, has been named a
U.S. Presidential Scholar candidate in his senior year at Indian Springs.  The Presidential Scholars Program recognizes students who have succeeded in the highest possible level of academic rigor and is recognized as one of our nation's highest honors for high school students.

Mazel tov to Ellen, Jessica and Seth on your incredible achievements.  The faculty, administration and students at NEMDJS are so proud of your accomplishments!

CELEBRATION OF LEARNING

One hundred days of learning .... one hundred days smarter!  That's the mantra of our Kindergarten, First and Second grade students as they all celebrated the joy of being part of the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School.  In fact, they all had so much fun on their 100th day of school, that they didn't even realize just how hard they worked all day long with writing, math, reading, art, poetry and PE.  What will I look like when I am 100 years old?  How will I spend $100.  What does 100 toppings on ice cream really look like?!  Can I complete 100 PE activities?  Thank you to our incredible faculty for making the 100th day such an incredible and creative celebration of learning!

David, Avi, Jack and Jacob show off their special hats.
First grade has 100 toes!

First grade 100 days of learning celebration.
2nd grade celebrates with their friend and visitor Morah Anne Cohen.
