Republican Ballot Recommendations

Governor: Rick Scott

Attorney General:  Pam Bondi

Chief Financial Office:  Jeff Atwater

Commission of Agriculture:  Adam Putnam

Congress District 3:  Ted Yoho

Congress District 5:  Go Smith

State Representative District 10:  Elizabeth Porter

State Representative District 21:  Keith Perry

Tax Collector:  Jon Costabile

County Commissioner, District 4:  John Martin

Florida Constitutional Amendment 1:  No
The amendment forces the Legislature and Governor to reserve specific amounts of money toward land conservation.  The State of Florida has already done a remarkable job conserving land.  In a down economy, this amendment would restrict the Legislature and Governor from being able to re prioritize state funds to more critical needs, including social services, medicaid, etc.

Florida Constitutional Amendment 2:  No
This amendments purports to legalizing marijuana for medical purposes.  It is, however, filled with loopholes that would allow unscrupulous doctors to set up pill mill type operations to write prescriptions for any perceived malady without any real medical or government oversight.

In fact, if you own a business, an employee could smoke marijuana on the job, as long as they had a prescription, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Florida Constitutional Amendment 3:  Yes
This allows the Governor to fill an expected judicial vacancy before the term of office of the sitting Judge is expired.  For example, if a Judge is on the ballot for retention, but loses the retention election, this allows the Governor to appoint a replacement and to have that replacement ready to fill the vacancy when the term of the non-retained Judge expires.  Currently, the Governor must wait until the term expires before appointing someone to the seat, which increases the likelihood that there will be an absence that can cause a backup in the Court's case log.

Alachua County Question 1:  No
This is to vote yes or no on implementing a new $240 million, 8 year tax.

Alachua County Citizens are already burdened with the highest combined millage rate in the state, 4th highest amount of taxes taken as a percentage of our property value, highest electric rates in the state (if you are on GRU) and a cost of living above the average in every category except health care.

Alachua County Republicans think a tax swap (roll back the millage rate and increase the sales tax) would have been a fairer solution for Alachua County's tax burdened citizens.

Alachua County Question 2:  No
This is a non-binding question that asks the question of whether or not corporations, for political purposes, get the same rights as individual.

We recommend no, because the logic of "yes" taken to its conclusion is a restriction of freedom of speech that would limit the ability of citizens to band together, form a non-profit corporation, pool their resources and then spend their money to speak out about the issues that are important to them.

Retention of Judges - 1st District Court of Appeal:
Benton:  No
Lewis:  Yes
Makar:  Yes
Osterhaus:  Yes
Roberts:  Yes

Black Tie and Blue Jeans BBQ With Andrea Tantaros, One Of The Five on Fox News!

Yep, its that time!

We are proud to announce the 2014 Ronald Reagan Black Tie and Blue Jeans BBQ will be on Thursday, October 30th.  That is the Thursday before the November General Election!

After such exciting speakers as Ann Coulter, Former Iraqi General Georges Sada, Sean Hannity, Lt. Col. Oliver North, Laura Ingraham and Michelle Malkin, we are pleased to announce that the next great alum in the Black Tie and Blue Jeans family is Fox News' Andrea Tantaros!.

Andrea Tantaros is the host of the nationally syndicated radio show, "The Andrea Tantaros Show" on Talk Radio Network and co-host of the second highest rated show on cable, "The Five," weekdays at 5 p.m. ET on Fox News Channel.

The Washington Times has called her "the most pragmatic personality on 'The Five'... who has already had a lifetime of experience despite only being in her 30s. Andrea's calm, yet reasoned personality mixed with a quick tongue and biting sense of humor make her a powerful presence."

The Andrea Tantaros Show is ranked 7th largest in the country and is a fresh and fearless take on politics, pop culture, cultural issues and more.

Before Fox News recruited her, Tantaros served as a vice president at a public affairs firm in Manhattan where she advised Fortune 500 corporations on crisis management and media strategy.
