Fundraiser and Meet & Greet for Ed Braddy at Susan and Juddy Carter's House

Susan and Juddy Carter are hosting a fundraiser and meet and greet for Ed Braddy at their house on Thursday, February 28th, From 5:00 to 7:30 P.M.

Ed Braddy is running for Gainesville Mayor against incumbant Craig Lowe.  Lowe is the guy with the really messy yard and all the charm of an angry hornet.  He likes to tell other commissioners that they are full of hot air, and deny citizens the right to be fairly heard.  He is also an advocate for paying far flung companies billions of dollars of your money to burn down trees for energy production.  The more you think about it, Craig Lowe really isn't all that bright, is he?

Anyway, this Thursday will be a great opportunity to meet Ed Braddy!

What:    Meet and Greet and Fundraiser for Ed Braddy
When:   Thursday, February 28th, 5 to 7:30 P.M.
Where:    Home of Juddy and Susan Carter, 2458 NW 15th Place

You can visit Ed Braddy's website and make an online donation to his campaign at www.edbraddy.com.

MAC IS BACK!

Mac McEachern is running for Gainesville City Commission, District 4 against incumbant Randy Wells.

Randy is supporter of the $3 billion tree burner power plant and an enabler of Craig Lowe's bad behavior.

You can visit Mac's website at http://www.voteformac.com where you can contact Mac, leave comments or make an online contribution to his campaign.

Do We Live In An Unstable Universe!?

Ok so this isn't really a political story, but it is about as fascinating as it gets.  Scientists aren't 100% sure, but they think they have discovered the Higgs particle, and they think they have discovered its mass.

Why is this a big deal?  Theoretcially, the Higgs Boson (the Higgs particle) interacts with the Higgs field to give all matter its mass, and the mass of the particle, when plugged into calculations, seems to predict that our Universe is an inherently unstable false vacuum.  The calculations seem to predict that tens of billions of years from now, the universe's false vacuum will decay to a more stable, low energy state.  In the process, everything we know will be wiped out at the speed of light.

Actually, the Higgs particle's mass is right on the line.  If it weighed a little bit more, then the universe would be stable.  If it weighed a little less, then the universe would definitly be unstable.  That begs the question of whether or not intelligent life and our interesting universe requires a degree of instability.

But don't worry. If the universe is unstable, then the impending catastrophe is long after our time, here, and even long after our sun runs out of fuel and our solar system dies.  For anybody around in the universe, when it does happen, it will happen so fast that they won't even know it.

So, for now, we will keep working to elect Republicans.

The Gainesville City Commission's Bait & Switch

The Gainesville City Commission has put fall elections on the ballot with 4 year terms!  But wait!  There is a catch!

Yep, at first glance, it would appear that the Gainesville City Commission is finally doing the right thing and putting fall elections on the ballot.  On the ballot for this city elections this March, city residents will have the opportunity to decide  whether or not to have future city elections in the fall, every two years.  The premise being that if the elections are held with other elections, turnout will be higher.

Now comes the bait and switch!  Their new election scheme doesn't place the election in even years with the Presidential elections and the mid-terms.  It places them in odd number years, all by themselves.  That isn't going to drive turnout.  It will accomplish nothing more than giving the current commissioners 4 year terms with the same poor turnout that keeps them in power!

We have said before that Gainesville City Commission elections are designed to fail, and the horrible, liberal powers that be have designed a dishonest scheme that is nothing more than a bait and switch.
