Walden Chamber Players 2012/13 Season Schedule
Welcome to Walden's 16th season! This season is marked by many exciting new ventures, concerts and educational programs under the leadership of WCP's new Artistic Director, Ashima Scripp!
New Projects...
This season we will embark on our next eagerly anticipated recording project: A Voice Gone Silent Too Soon: The Music of Gerhard Schedl. Walden Chamber Players have been enthusiastic advocates of Schedl's music ever since we first encountered it, performing many of his works in concerts all over the country to resounding response from the listeners. Few other composers' music has moved us as profoundly as that of Gerhard Schedl - it is music of tremendous beauty, sophistication and intensity.
New Music...
In October we will premiere a brand new commission from the renowned composer Andrew Norman. Andrew Norman is the recipient of the 2005 ASCAP Nissim Prize, the 2006 Rome Prize and the 2009 Berlin Prize and one of his pieces was recently named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Music. We are thrilled to be able to premiere a new work by this incredible young American composer!
New Initiatives...
This year we are bringing chamber music to the students of Nantucket Island, as part of our new Chamber Music ACK program which provides the year-round population a chance to experience world-class performance and teaching without having to travel "off-island". We will be using video and audio podcasting and web-based communications to keep music central to the island's schools and community - another first for the ensemble!
