DOCTOR OF MINISTRY INTENSIVE WEEK: AUGUST 18-22
 

The theme for the August Doctor of Ministry Intensive Week, scheduled for August 18-22, is "Holiness and Idolatry for Ministry."

The public is invited to attend the two evening worship services, the four chapel services and the four morning lectures either in person at the Dayton Marriott Hotel or via Livestream.

ALUMNI/AE INVITED TO UNITED'S SUMMER COMMUNITY LIFE EVENT AT KINGS ISLAND: AUGUST 29
 


You are invited to join the students, staff and faculty of United at Kings Island, on Friday, August 29, from 1-10 p.m. for a community life event celebrating the start of our 144th Academic Year! There will be a dinner buffet and program from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the park grounds.

United will purchase dinner tickets ($15 value each) for all attendees and their guests. Attendees are responsible for their own park admission. Tickets are $33 each for children and adults (children under 3 are free). Reduced preferred parking fee is $12. United will arrange group participation from and back to the seminary for interested parties.

UNITED GROUP TRAVELS TO MOZAMBIQUE; M.DIV. STUDENT REFLECTS
 
From June 1-15, 2014, a group of 12 masters and doctoral students, Dr. and Mrs. Andrew Park and President Wendy Deichmann traveled to Pemba, Mozambique, for an immersion trip to Iris Global, a mission founded by Heidi and Rolland Baker '13.

Dr. Emma J. Justes, Distinguished Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling in the Emma Toussant Chair in Pastoral Theology, is United's Opening Convocation speaker for the 2014-2015 academic year at Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering Ohio.

SCOTT O'GRADY IS KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT LONNIE C. PORTER SCHOLARSHIP DINNER: SEPTEMBER 16

 

Please join us September 16 at the Schuster Center as we celebrate those who have made significant and sacrificial gifts to provide scholarships for students, at home and abroad, who are preparing to be servant leaders in the Church. 

The keynote speaker for the evening is Scott Francis O'Grady.  In 1995, O'Grady's jet was shot down in Bosnia and he spent six days behind enemy lines before a dramatic rescue. 

The evening honors Mr. Lonnie C. Porter, a humble and devoted groundskeeper who served United for many years and left his entire estate to support United students.

Dr. Randy L. Maddox is the speaker at the 2014 J. Arthur Heck Lectures on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Dr. Maddox will present the theme, "Anticipate Our Heaven Below: Wesleyan Precedents for Reclaiming Holistic Salvation." 

 
 
The Annual Alumni/ae Awards Banquet will be held the evening before, Tuesday, Oct. 14, featuring the class of 1974's induction into the Eckels Society and presentation of the Effective Ministry Award, the Distinguished Alumnus/a Award and the Outstanding D.Min. Alumnus/a AwardNOMINATE a United alumnus/a for one of these awards!

United graduates are all smiles as they process after receiving their diplomas on May 23 at Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church.  Twenty-seven masters and 42 doctoral degrees were awarded.
