5th Annual Spa Day - A Huge Success!
Wow, the Spa Day Committee chaired by Jenae Rubin pulled off another phenomenal transformation of the Zveibil home to become Spa TAO.
As an attendee, I can honestly say my day-to-day world drifted away on a cloud at Sunday's Spa Day. While the picture-perfect weather served as God's contribution, the generosity of the Practitioners who donated their time and hearts to us completed a perfect day:
- KarmaSeven (facials and massage)
- Massage and CranioSacral: therapy:
- Peter Fox
- Beth Stoller
- Guillermo Ledesma
- Laura Hardman
- Joan Sonnabend (chairs)
- Reiki Masters: Aimee Davila and Robert Zveibil
- Gellac Nail Salon: Christine & Quan
- Intuitives: Cynthia Segal and Hally Elise
- Foot Detox: Jacquie Thompson
- AquaYoga: Michelle Alva
- Zumba: Luz Berazza
- Ayurveda Lecture: Aimee Davila
- Triple Mask & Stress-Melter: Dottie Zveibil
- Yoga & Meditation, Singing & Chanting: Rabbi Marc
A gourmet, mostly organic, lunch from Whole Foods Market and a "we-can-do-that" attitude from the Spa Day Dream Team made this day feel like a real vacation. In fact, the only complaint I had was that the day went by so fast (pretty amazing since many of us arrived before 10:00 and left around 6:30!)
This Herculean effort could not be done without a fabulous, committed-to-serve team:
Co-Chairs: Dottie Zveibil, Pam Kelner and Sheryl Reback put their hearts and souls into this event and deserve huge, enormous, over-the-top accolades.
- Irene Yovu, secured the food from Whole Foods, all the items in the phenomenal goody bags and the Big Raffle, and many items for the auction. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
- Kitchen Krew (without whom Attendees would not have eaten!!) Charles & Rochelle Tischler, Ann Kurtzman, Rose Moussa, Nancy Mendelson, and Harry Levine.
- Check-In and Check-Out team Karen Rosenfeld, Renee Greene and Sharon Cohan (Renee's cousin)
- Raffle Tickets: Trudi DiGrazia and Karen Rosenfeld.
- Parking and Shlepping: Michael Fish and Joe Beres (Sharon's boyfriend)
- Phone Committee: Kate GeMeiner, Ethelind Wiener, Jules Alpern, Wayne Rogers, and Rochelle Tischler and me (Anne Goldberg)
- Administration: Dee Sacks, Karen Rosenfeld, Peter Fox, Renee Greene, Jenae, and me.
Goody Bags (& stuffing them), Silent Auction Donations, Marketing, Set-Up & Clean-up: Nancy Mendelson, Trudi DiGrazia, Peter Fox, Dottie Zveibil, Pam Kelner, Sheryl Reback, Irene Yovu, Meyer Weiss, Charles Tischler, Ann Kurtzman, and Harry Levine (who stayed late helping to put the Zveibil's house back in order.)
Special thanks to Peter Fox for mini-massage "Spa Day Teasers" at Services. It created quite the buzz!
Last, but certainly not least, a huge thank you to Meyer Weiss who stayed very late both on Set Up and Break Down days putting up some tents by himself, running errands, shlepping, cutting and delivering coconuts, and so, so, so much more. His constant smile and happy-to-do-attitude epitomized the heart and soul of love and giving this day was about.
There were so many who donated their time and talents, and if we have missed your name here, know that you are infinitely appreciated. As you see, it takes a village to deliver this event professionally, seamlessly and pleasantly.
To all of you, we love and thank you.
And finally... to Dottie and Robert Zveibil... You do so much for us, you are so appreciated and so loved. With spectacular generosity of yourselves and your home, words seem an inadequate measure of gratitude. You planned, shopped, set-up, broke-down, turned your home inside out for us and then, to top it off, provided fabulous services. I especially loved the Triple Mask facilitated by Dottie. (We hope your pool guy got the pool sparkling again without too much trouble!!!) We are a better community for your presence in it. Thank you.
Jenae Rubin... It is said, "If you want something done, ask the busiest person you know." You brought that to a new level. Your creativity, attention to detail and professionalism bring each Spa Day to a new high. With probably 150 hours invested in this event, your selfless dedication gives this community a gift to all who attend, and Spa Day has consistently been a hugely successful fund-raiser for TAO. The trickles of that financial gift reach every member... every person who comes to Services or other TAO events. The Board and Administration are deeply appreciative of you and your contribution to this community. Thank you.
No expression of thanks would be complete without mentioning everyone who attended. All the work of all these dedicated volunteers would have meant nothing without you participating and enjoying. Each of you who attended Spa Day had a chance to unwind, relax, reflect and laugh with friends and loved ones. Without you, Spa Day would have been Blah Day. Thank you for coming and for supporting this community and for being a part of it. You are why we are here.
B'Shalom,
Anne Goldberg Immediate Past President and Spa Day Attendee From Chairperson: Jenae Rubin
Explaining Spa Day to someone who has never attended is like trying to explain what TAO is about to someone who has never been. You talk about the amazing way people feel, the things we do, how loving it is, and it sounds fantasy-like, unreal. It's hard to "get" if you've never been. So if you have not attended Spa Day, think about how you try to express your love of TAO and how fabulous TAO is to your friends who haven't been. You know it's amazing, and that's the tip of the iceberg! As you see from the list of volunteers and tasks above, Spa Day is a monumental undertaking. While, yes, I do spend an enormous number of hours on this event, so do many other people (especially the Zveibils transforming their home), and this event would not, could not, be without all the volunteers and co-chairs. So please personally thank everyone listed above when you see them next; they poured their hearts into making this the amazing event it is so you have an incredible experience. To my partners, the volunteers, I thank you and love you so much. Many of the deep friendships I have today are a result of the bonds formed (and continue to form) from the people who assist on this event. It is a lot of work, and it is worth every second as I am richer as a human being today than without the dear friendships I have thanks to the honor of chairing this event.
We had three Raffle Baskets: The BIG Raffle Basket (valued at $256) was won by Esther Levy! The Birthday Basket was won by ecstatic Jennifer High (niece of Maxine Kamin). And the Early Bird Raffle was won by Barbara O'Brien's sister, Dyanne Krupinsky. 95 people attended Spa Day. We grew 29% this year. With growth comes challenges. To the Attendees, I infinitely thank you for being so gracious when schedules needed to change and hiccups caused us to be off schedule a few times. You were benevolent and accommodating. Thank you for accepting the love every Volunteer intended you to receive this day. The funny part of this paragraph is that some of you will not have a clue what I am talking about, and that is even more perfect! The calls, emails, texts and comments of gratitude we receive (from you) during and after the event (in addition to the financial support we raise for our Spiritual Source) makes this all worth it. If you would like to add a story or note to our online "Guest Book," please email Jenae@SalesPowerhouse.com. From the bottom of my heart, I love you for your love, support, grace and connection. We are One. Peace, love, harmony & joy, Jenae Rubin Spa Day Chairperson

TAO's Adopted Family
An important part of living a Jewish life is to offer tzedaka and chesed - charity and loving kindness. With this in mind, TAO has adopted a family through the Touch A Heart Foundation.
How can you help? You can make a call and say hello, or maybe stop by for a visit. If possible, you could bring some groceries or cleaning supplies; maybe think of them when you see the 'Buy One Get One' deals at the local market. There is no gesture too small or too large for this needy family.
If you are interested in helping this family in any way, please call Renee at 954-888-1408 or by email at Renee@TAOCenter.net

The families of the sons of Levi are appointed to serve as guardians of each component of the Holy Sanctuary.
Witness how you accept the responsibility for making decisions or give it over to another. When you choose or relinquish responsibility, notice if it, in turn, increases or diminishes you and your unique ability to contribute to a new way of thinking, feeling, or being in this world.

Welcome to TAO
We are a warm expression of joyful Judaism, with meaningful ritual and universal Truths rooted in Torah, Kabbalah and other traditional & mystic Jewish sources. We draw deeply from communal wisdom and spiritual traditions in accordance with the ongoing process of the living Torah.
TAO stands for Temple Adath Or. Our founding rabbi, Rabbi Shoni Labowitz, used great intention in choosing this name, as in Hebrew it means People (or community) of Light. And whether the members were drawn to the name, or simply just lived up to it, TAO is, indeed, a community of light.
Embark on a journey to your Jewish soul through music, dance, chanting and meditation. This is not your parents' schul! Come and experience the warmth of Jewish Renewal - and community - TAO style.

Tikkun Olam
(Heal the World)
TAO cares about your health and that of the earth. Check here weekly for useful tips that save money, conserve resources and protect both you and our precious planet.
Here are some cool ways to clean and deodorize your home that are safe for you, your kids and your pets!
- Deodorize dry carpets by sprinkling liberally with baking soda. Wait at least 15 minutes, then vacuum.
- To rid your garbage disposal of foul smells, add vinegar to water for ice cubes, then let a few of them get chopped by your disposal.
- To clean your silver, boil 2-3 inches of water in a shallow pan with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and a sheet of aluminum foil. Totally submerge silver and boil for 2-3 minutes more. Remove silver from the pan and wipe away the tarnish with a clean cotton cloth.
|
Galia, Ocean and Kole Funds
In the spirit of Tzedakah, Paulina and Rabbi Marc set up three funds at TAO - a Galia fund, an Ocean fund and Kole Fund. When you share your sweetness to celebrate Galia's birthday (December 6), Ocean's birthday (June 28) or Kole's birthday (June 24) and other occasions, please donate to one of these funds rather than buying gifts for the children. These funds are used to send toys and other needed items to Jewish and non-Jewish organizations that serve children, including Jafco.
Paulina and Rabbi Marc will be informed that you gifted their children and performed an act of Tzedakah in their honor.
