Head of School Happenings
Wolcott has experienced so much growth and excitement this spring - it is hard to know where to start. Our incoming classes of freshmen and sophomores are a talented group. I cannot wait to see how they begin to shape Wolcott for themselves. We will get a glimpse of it in July when we offer a summer school program. Equally talented, and currently the greatest source of my excitement, is the Wolcott faculty. The range and depth of their expertise is impressive. Please read about featured faculty members here. Our James Tyree Community Resource Center hosted a number of well-received events over the past months, all consistent with its mission of sharing best practices with the community. We look forward to August 28th, the first official day of school.

"I can't tell you how ecstatic we are that our son will be joining Wolcott School. I'm not sure which of us is the most excited. I am certain that this is the first time in years that he has been so proud and pleased about school. Thank you for creating a place where he can thrive and flourish. We look forward to joining the Wolcott community".

The James Tyree Community Resource Center at Wolcott School
On June 10, 2013, The James Tyree Community Resource Center presented its inaugural program, hosting the Governor of Vermont, Peter Shumlin. The room was bustling with incoming Wolcott students as well as high school students and families from across Chicagoland. In an informal and forthcoming presentation, the Governor shared his journey to leadership and described his struggle with dyslexia. Following his comments, the Governor solicited questions from the audience. One student asked him why he chose to publicly discuss his dyslexia. He responded that it is an important story to tell and that he attributes his success to the skills and tenacity he developed to compensate for the challenges he faced.
