REGISTRY INFORMATION
THE HERD LETTER FOR 2014 IS "B"
Embryos
When purchasing embryos, remember to send the TRANSFER OF EMBRYO OWNERSHIP and the TRANSPLANT/RECOVERY forms to the CSA office. These are required to complete registrations once SNP results have been received from the laboratory.
Spring Calving Season - Calving Data Reminder:
With the end of Spring calving season, now is the time to complete your calving data. THE participants are required to submit data on their entire calf crop. Data must be submitted to the CSA office by June 1st to be included in the Fall 2014 Genetic Evaluation. Herds with multiple ownership, or herds which are operated as a single unit, should submit calving information on all animals together under a single or master herd number. This does NOT affect ownership or registration requirements, however it does ensure that calves are handled correctly in the genetic evaluation and that proper credit is given to the animal's genetic merit.

BREED IMPROVEMENT
Genotyping Incentive Program
For a limited time the CSA is offering a reduced price on genotyping tests for CSA members enrolled in the Total Herd Enrollment (THE) program: $25 per sample for GGP-LD Profile - Savings of $20 $45 per sample for GGP-HD Profile - Savings of $45 DNA kits must be ordered by October 15, 2014 with DNA samples submitted no later than November 30, 2014. Funds will be allocated on a first-come, first serve basis. This incentive may expire early if funding is fully utilized.
A second way to save! Any genotyped animal that has an ultrasound record submitted by April 30, 2015 will qualify for an additional $5 credit to the members account! To qualify data must be collected under the same criteria as the previous Ultrasound Rebate Program.
Genetically Enhanced EPD's In the next run of the genetic evaluation the CSA plans to incorporate genomic information. EPDs may not necessarily appear different, but younger animals with genomic linkage tests should have EPDs closer to their actual value and have a higher accuracy. The more animals that are genomically tested which are related to your herd, the more accurate the prediction will be. Data must be submitted to the CSA office by June 1st to be included in the fall evaluation.
