Payment is due upon receipt of invoice. For members with a credit card on file at the office, fees will automatically be billed to your credit card. The 2nd THE installment will be invoiced October 1. For further information/instructions on Total Herd Enrollment, please go to www.Simmental.com under Registry | Total Herd Enrollment (THE) Maternal Upgrade Registration Requests Just a friendly reminder to those members that require the CSA staff to enter Non-Simmental bulls into our Herd Book. The steps involved are as follows. 1. Please fax (or email) the Registration ID for the bull(s) that need to be entered. 2. To avoid delays in the staff returning the unique CSA identification for these bulls, please ensure that you also include the Breeder Copy/DNA certificate showing the current DNA results for the animal being entered. ** Important Note: If you were not the member that originally submitted the hair sample for the bull in question, you will have to obtain permission from those parties in order to obtain the results. Otherwise, we will be unable to complete the pedigree entry. 3. For more information pertaining to Simmental fractions, please go to www.simmental.com and look under Registry | Upgrading Tables Random Parentage Verification of Simmental Animals In accordance with Canadian Simmental Association Bylaws and Office Policies, parentage verification of animals is required on a random basis. Every 500th registration application is automatically selected for random testing. The Association is responsible for the costs of parentage verification providing the random animal qualifies to both parents. Once an animal is selected, random requests are to be completed within six months. If for any reason you are unable to complete the random test on the selected animal, please call the CSA Office immediately so we can select another animal in order to complete the test within the original six month deadline. AI and Natural Service Sires As per CSA Bylaws, all sires (natural and AI bulls) must have DNA on file in order to register progeny. If you wish to register calves please first ensure the sire has a DNA or SNP case #. You can find this on our website by searching the given bull or by calling the office. If your sire does not have a DNA on file please either call the CSA office or complete and submit the DNA request form found on Simmental.com/Registry/DNA Application Form. Be sure to indicate on your request form whether the bull will be a walking or possible AI sire as there are different tests required for each sire type. Please note the typical turn-around times for DNA or SNP testing is 21-28 business days.

BREED IMPROVEMENT
Genotyping Incentive Program
The CSA is developing a Genotyping Incentive Program. A complete program outline will be distributed shortly.
Calving and Yearling Data
Members are reminded that in order for records to be included in the upcoming EPD run, data must be received at the CSA office no later than June 1st. It is important to submit records on complete groups of calves. Failing to report cattle that underperform causes the better performing animals to appear worse.
Current Averages and Percentiles
As we approach breeding season, we would like to remind breeders that the CSA has re-aligned our EPD's with those of the ASA through our joint North American evaluation. Simmental EPDs are now directly comparable between countries.
Genetically Enhanced EPD's In the next run of our genetic evaluation the CSA plans to incorporate genomic information. EPDs may not necessarily appear different, but younger animals with genomic linkage tests should have EPDs closer to their actual value and have a higher accuracy. The more animals that are genomically tested which are related to your herd, the more accurate the prediction will be.
